Movie Review: Everything Must Go

Friday, November 4, 2011 0 comments

Synopsis: Nick Porter is a career salesman whose days of being on top are long gone. The same day Nick gets fired, for falling off the wagon one last time, he returns home to discover his wife has left him, changed the locks on their suburban home and dumped all his possessions out on the front yard. Faced with his life imploding, Nick puts it all on the line - or more properly, on the lawn - reluctantly holding a yard sale that becomes a unique strategy for survival.
Starring: Will Ferrell, Christopher Jordan Wallace, Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena, Rosalie Michaels
Directed by: Dan Rush
U.S. Rating: R

Will Ferrell is one of my favorite actors. One of the main reasons is just because he's a weird authentic guy. What I really enjoy from him is that he's able to deliver a great and believable performancenot just on his funniest comedy films, but on witty films like this one. I really enjoyed his role on Strager Than Fiction, since he was able to show his versatile talent on different roles and movie genders. His role in Everything Must Go just confirmed it was not a coincidence of his great talent to play the main roles on these adult and smart humor/drama films.

Everything Must Go is basically a sad comedy, and should I say a thoughtful drama. Supported by a really good cast, the film brings a cinematic portrait of a self-destructive personality with, perhaps, a hopeful glimmer of redemption at the end of the film.

If you want to know more about the plot:

The film opens with Nick Halsey losing his job, it is shortly revealed that this is due to him being an alcoholic, and his involvement in an unknown incident in Denver. When he returns home, he finds his wife is gone, and that his belongings have been thrown out all over his front lawn. The locks to his house have been changed, along with the alarm codes, effectively preventing Nick from entering his house. There is a note from his wife, telling Nick she has left him, making note about the Denver incident. Nick then leaves to buy beer, and finds his company car being taken back by the company. In addition to this, Nick's ATM card is blocked and he has to survive with the little money he has in his pocket.

On talking with the bank manager, he comes to know that he has a joint account with his wife and she has blocked the cards while his savings, US$45,000, is still in there. Nick's phone service also gets terminated, leaving him with no wife, house, car, money, phone. He gets help from Kenny to look after this things on the lawn while he goes shopping. Soon they become friends, and they decide to sell Nick's stuff together. Nick assures him he'll give Kenny money for the help, and also that he will teach him to play baseball.

Nick spends all his remaining money on beer and food. When Nick experiences anxiety due to withdrawal from alcohol, his new neighbor Samantha gives him a Valium. Nick reads Samantha's problems and repays her harshly when she says that he must return to normal. The next morning Nick awakes to find Kenny has arranged his belongings on the lawn and has put price tags on them. All the things get sold by that evening. During dinner he encounters his supervisor who explains that the incident in Denver probably did not happen since the female employee he got drunk with tried blackmailing other employees. After having dinner with Kenny along with Samantha, he goes to meet his detective friend Frank Garcia. Nick’s wife calls Frank's cell phone, which Nick picks up and finds out that she has been staying with Frank ever since she left him. Frank explains to Nick that she deserves a better life and needs to agree to a divorce. He also gives him some money, a house key, and divorce papers for him to sign. The next day he gives his most valued possessions which he didn’t want to sell to his neighbor and Kenny. He also makes up with Samantha and they hug.

A pretty good option for a quiet/relaxing weekend afternoon.

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Movie Review: Employee of the Month

Wednesday, January 19, 2011 0 comments

Synopsis: For customers of Super Club, the largest high-volume, bulk-discount retailer in the country, membership has its privileges. For workers at the cavernous store, the most coveted honor is the "Employee of the Month" award, and having one's photo immortalized on the wall of fame in the staff lounge. Enter Zack Bradley and Vince Downey, two ultra competitive Super Club workers whose ten years of employment have resulted in drastically different career paths. While Vince--with the aid of his trusty sidekick Jorge--has advanced to become head cashier and winner of 17 consecutive "E of M" awards, Zack is the ultimate slacker whose scruffy appearance and laid back attitude has made him popular with his colleagues, but kept him stuck in the lowly ranks of the store's box boys. The duo's longtime rivalry comes to a bitter head when Amy--a beautiful new cashier with a reputation of only dating "Employee of the Month" winners--transfers to the store, immediately becoming the object of both Zack and Vince's affection and often comical gamesmanship. While Vince instantly impresses Amy with his crowd pleasing, flamboyant style behind his checkstand register, Zack's feeble attempts to charm his beautiful new co-worker quickly backfire against him. With the race to win Amy's affections slipping away, Zack determines his only chance rests in winning the store's next "Employee of the Month" award.
Starring: Dane Cook, Dax Shepard, Harland Williams, Brian George, Jessica Simpson
Directed by: Greg Coolidge
U.S. Rating: PG-13

I had the chance to watch Employee of the Month one more time this week, and I totally enjoyed it. The first time I watched, it was over 3 years ago and this week, I had the same good laughs I had when I watched it those years ago.

Employee of the Month brings the story of Zack, a "box boy" working at a Super Club, the largest high-volume, bulk-discount retailer in the country. He tries to avoid responsibilities. Years before, he went for an internet venture and lost all of his own money and his grandmother's money, forcing them to live together. Since that event, he decided to take life in a very easy way, not being responsible at all.

He has some cool friends at his job. In fact, Zack and his friends enjoy some especial benefits from their work place. They have a secret crib where they spend their breaks, playing cards, drinking beer, spying other employees and having some fun.

Zack hates Vince, the "star" of this retailer. Vince has been the employee of the month for 17 months in a row. He's the fastest cashier of the retailer and he's proud about it. Zack plays pranks on him just because he loves it, he hates him to much to avoid it.

Everything changes when the retailer hires Amy, a new cashier. Zack and Vince will soon be involved in a personal competition to get Amy's attention. Zack gets the news that Amy has some attraction for the employees of the month, so he decides to win the award the month that is about to start.

All of his friends laugh histerically towards the news and decision of running for this award, since they know how irresponsible, always late and bad employee he is. He starts working hard to make it happen, but he learns fast how difficult is geting the "daily star" through the good deeds and hard work.

He finally sees the results of his hard work when he starts getting those daily stars and tie the results with Vince. The only problem is that he lost the vision on what matters the most... his friends. Amy also knew that he was doing it for her, because he thought she'd like him if he won the competition.

At the end, they run for the last competition. Zack has decided to run for the award just because he can do it for himself, not for someone else.

I'm not a huge fan of Jessica Simpson. I personally believe she's the perfect example of what a dumb blond bimbo really is. I'm glad that Dane Cook and Dax Shepard stole the show and just helped her to be part of it.

Some people criticized the film saying that it was extremely predictable. Yes, it was predictable. If you're running for the "Employee of the Month", and the title of the film is "Employee of the Month", what do you think is going to happen?! Some other people criticized that Dane Cook wasn't funny at all, and I personally believe that he was actually playing the "less" funny role in this film.

Yes, the film was predictable, and it was a silly comedy film, but totally fun and enjoyable to watch. It is one of those comedy films that makes the perfect evening at home, relaxing while watching it and eating some popcorn and a good drink. If you're looking for some silly laughs, and you don't mind watching Jessica Simpson playing his real personality, it will be a good option to watch.

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Enjoy it!... Watch it!

I've already provided a movie review from the two previous films, Twilight and New Moon, but I only did it after I watched the DVDs at home.

Believe it or not, I went to watch Eclipse last night. I never thought I'd go to the theater to watch one of these Twilight Saga movies, but hey... I finally did it.

I must start saying that I totally enjoyed the film! It was so cheesy for my taste, but it was really entertaining though. I didn't get some "important" details related with the books and story, but I had the best help to be updated about these details, my wifie... one of the biggest Twilight fan I've known so far.

If I had to compare the two previous films against Eclipse, I would say that the most important improvement noticed was the acting performance. One of the worst thing I found on the two previous films was the lack of acting performance offered by the cast, especially, the main characters. I personally believe that Kristen Stewart is one of the worst Hollywood actresses. Her acting in New Moon was one of the worst performances I've seen in a long time. I would also include Robert Pattinson's and Jackson Rathbone roles. Their performance was so poor that I actually laughed on every single of their scenes. Taylor Lautner was one of the decent performances on the previous films.

Well, Eclipse showed a big improvement on this matter. The film offered a better acting performance (except Jackson Rathbone's performance... he still sucks big time!). Another improvement was the CGI effects work shown on this film. I could say that it was spotless. I was glad that I could follow the story, even though, as my wifie said, there was so many details missing from the book that would help to understand more from all the situation and events shown on this film.

There were a few moments where I couldn't stop laughing. The first one, watching Taylor Lautner running and holding Kristen Stewart. It was cheesy and looked so dumb that I couldn't hold my laughs. Second one, the scene when Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are alone at his house laying in bed. My wifie was trying to explain me why they couldn't have sex, since he'd break her, due to his powerful condition for being a vampire. You can imagine all crazy funny and bizarre things that crossed my mind while she was explaining me these details.

One last interesting detail about this film is that it didn't have the same luck as its predecessors. It was interesting to see that Eclipse couldn't hold the first position for more than a week! Twilight and New Moon were the most watched films. They kept this position for weeks and weeks. This time, Despicable Me made Eclipse eat the dust and finish second on its second week in theaters.

If you are a Twilight Saga fan and haven't watched Eclipse yet, I would recommend you to go and watch it.

After watching this one, I would consider to go and watch the two final films for the last book, Breaking Down. I think it would make happy the wifie, since she didn't expect me to go with her to watch the movie last night and actually enjoy it :)

Synopsis: In ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob -- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Movie Review: Everybody's Fine

Thursday, February 25, 2010 0 comments

Synopsis: A widower embarks on an impromptu road trip to reconnect with each of his grown children only to discover that their lives are far from picture perfect.

Starring: Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, Lucian Maisel
Directed by: Kirk Jones
U.S. Rating: PG-13

I should start saying that you shouldn't be sold by the trailer. The marketing behind the trailers and clips made it work, since it was sold as a comedy/drama, but the film is 100% drama, emotional and sentimental drama. Everybody's Fine brigs a message of the importance of family relationships through Frank Goode's story. Frank is a widower who is expecting the visit of his grown children for Christmas, but all of them have canceled their visit. Facing the dilemma of being at home alone, Frank avoids his doctor's recommendation of not flying and decides to travel by bus and train throughout the country and visit his children, but they're not expecting him. Soon, Frank will notice that they haven't been truly honest with him and have kept some important things about their lives away from him.

The film is basically shown through Frank's eyes, his experiences, dreams, thoughts, frustrations, disappointments and sadness. A really thoughtful, sad and sentimental film that will touch your fibers, especially when you're away from your parents and relatives. It will make you think about the importance of family bounds, relationships and how important it is , especially for your parents. Totally recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. It gathered such an amazing cast
2. Robert De Niro's performance, I really enjoyed it!
3. The message behind the plot

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Nothing, I really enjoyed it. Maybe it will be forgettable

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Movie Review: Edge of Darkness

Wednesday, February 24, 2010 0 comments

Synopsis: Thomas Craven is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma, is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. But he soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter's secret life and her killing. His investigation leads him into a dangerous looking-glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder -- and to shadowy government operative Darius Jedburgh who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven's solitary search for answers about his daughter's death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.

Starring: Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Bojana Novakovic, Shawn Roberts
Directed by: Martin Campbell
U.S. Rating: R

Mel Gibson is back after being away from the big screen for more than 5 years and let me tell you, he's still the good actor we all have enjoyed all these years. He's obviously getting old, his wrinkles can't hide his age anymore, but his talent has been kept intact.

Edge of Darkness brings the story of Detective Thomas Craven, from Boston Police Department. His daughter Emma has decided to visit him and maybe come back home and stay with him. The night they arrive from the train station, Emma starts bleeding and throwing up and they urge to go to the doctor. Right at the moment when Craven and Emma stepped out of the house, an unknown man screams his last name and shots Emma with a shotgun, killing her. Being a detective, Craven takes advantage of his resources and knowledge and works on the case of his daughter's murder aside the formal investigation. He starts putting all the pieces together and with the help of some key people involved with Emma, he will discover that his daughter was working for a secure nuclear site, found some critical information and was trying to find the way to reveal this important information considered highly classified for national security reasons. She was treated as a terrorist and for this reason, was killed, among other people. Craven keeps working on the case until he finds the responsible of the plan, the one who killed his daughter and with the help of a secret agent, kills everyone else related with these murders and case.

Edge of Darkness is the kind of film I DO love and enjoy watching over and over again. The kind of thriller and suspense that will capture your attention and will keep you in your seat throughout all the film without losing the attention to all the details and mystery. As I read in one of the comments and good criticisms made of this film: It is so good that in a time when most of the films released (and to be released) are mainly focused on their great CGI, 3D, monsters and allien contents... we can sit, relax and enjoy what is, essentially, a good old, well act plot and story.

With no doubt, it is one of those films that I will recommend to anyone who loves a good thriller and suspense film. Being directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye, etc), we can't expect less than a good action film.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Great cast for the film. It was not just Mel Gibson's performance, but the rest of the cast (Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, etc)
2. Good and entertaining plot
3. Great direction

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. There were just a couple of details that I really didn't find "real" on this film: The first one, when the girl is killed and Detective Whitehouse arrives to Craven's house and there were akk these people, cops, etc., in the kitchen eating and drinking coffee like it was a social reunion! And the second one, that a simple cop is able to reach to the top of a secure nuclear site organization without facing the standard bureaucracy. Other than that... I totally enjoyed this film!

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Movie Review: Extract

Friday, January 1, 2010 0 comments

Synopsis: Joel is one step away from selling his flavor extract factory and retiring to easy street when a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy.

Starring: Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck, J. K. Simmons
Directed by: Mike Judge
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Following his previous successful "work-environment" movie, Office Space, Mike Judge brings a new movie plot related with employees/employer conflicts with hilarious situations due to crazy and really bad decisions. With an easy and pretty basic script, supported by a great cast, Extract can offer you a really entertaining time. I personally enjoy Jason Bateman's work. Extract brings the story of Joel, a entrepreneur who built his flavor extract factory and after few years of ups and downs, he's just a step away to sell it to his competitors. The only problem? His employees cause a crazy random accident that might put in jeopardy the company's deal. Trying to deal with his messy personal & marital life, Joel is pushed to take some dumb decisions following his friend's advise. He'll face some hilarious situations while he finds the answers and solutions to all of his dilemmas and problems in life. Totally recommended for a really good movie night.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Even though it is not as good as Office Space, Mike Judge was able to offer a pretty funny and entertaining plot
2. The employee characters (the two old ladies, the guy that thinks he's the floor manager and suffers the accident, the mexican guy, etc) included in the script are hilarious!
3. J.K. Simmons's role (Brian) is hilarious! Giving names to all the employees and never remembers their real names
4. David Koechner;s role (Nathan) was also hilarious! He's such an annoying neighbor. The way he died, so funny!
5. What I like the most is that the movie trailer is funny enough to watch and motivate you without showing the hilarious situations and best parts of the film
6. The best scene? The moment when they're smoking pot with this bad guy and they decide to call the hot chick and they find out who she is and he gets punched in the eye for that!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. I think the script had enough material to make it better, since it was pretty simple. Supported by such a great cast, they could put more effort on the script

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Movie Review: Erin Brockovich

Thursday, December 31, 2009 1 comments

Synopsis: Based on the true story of a twice-divorced mother working as a low-level secretary at a Los Angeles law firm, a chronicle of a woman, without a law degree, who takes it upon herself to fight powerful corporate forces. Hired out of sympathy after her lawyer lost her personal injury suit, Brockovich stumbled upon the cover-up involving contaminated water in a small desert community, while working at the small law firm. Brockovich tracks a case of water poisoning created by PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) and champions it all the way up the judicial ladder--becoming instrumental in rallying the over 600 plaintiffs and in helping them win the largest class-action suit of its type.

Starring: Julia Roberts, Albert Finney, Aaron Eckhart, Marg Helgenberger, David Brisbin
Directed by: Steven Soderbergh
U.S. Rating: R

Without hesitation, I must say that this in one of my favorite movies of all time. Julia Roberts played a role with such perfection that made everyone be involved not just in the story, but in Erin's life. Even though the script is based on a true story, the plot was so strong that made the combination plot/cast to obtain the perfect results. An interesting detail about the movie is that I never knew that the real Erin Brockovich had a small role played in this film! She played the role of Julia, the waitress. Everyone knows that I love films based on true stories. I watch and enjoyed them all (well, most of them), but this film was one of the best films based on true stories that I've ever watched. According with Wikipedia, the story shown on the plot is totally accurate, despite some minor details. I never get tired of watching this film, I always find it fascinating and so motivating. Totally recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. What I enjoyed the most was the story told on this film. They showed that Erin was a woman submerged in so many personal and financial problems and dilemmas like everybody else, with no higher education, but with the determination and dedication to achieve her goals and final results. She was able to work for others, expecting nothing back, just the joy of knowing that she helped other people to overcome injustice
2. Julia Robert's role. My respects for this amazing role played. I'm not a big fan of her, but I totally loved her work in this movie!
3. Great cast and strong plot

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Nothing!

I would rate this movie with a 5/5

Movie Review: ExTerminators

Monday, December 21, 2009 0 comments

Synopsis: Three women who meet in anger management therapy decide to form a traditional business using very untraditional methods.

Starring: Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Settle, Amber Heard, Joey Lauren Adams
Directed by: John Inwood
U.S. Rating: PG-13

To start, I should say that this movie offers such an interesting comedy/suspense combination! It is about a woman (Heather Graham) who's convicted to attend a Anger Management program for a year after she punched a man in the face at a shop. In these therapy sessions, she meets three other girls and become friend of them, going out to a bar every week after their sessions. After one of the girls being physically abused by her husband in front of the group at the bar, they decide to follow the guy and "get rid of him". What finally was declared by an accident, became in a low profile untraditional business. The girls started offering (and being referred) their services of "Ex" Terminations to all those women abused by their ex husbands. Loaded with some hilarious situations, the plot offers also some light suspense, keeping a balance and interest in the situations throughout all the film, offering a really funny ending. A good option for all those who want to watch a different comedy.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Some of the dialogues and comments made by these women were hilarious!
2. The whole situation with the IRS guy is really funny, right up to the end!
3. The moment when she (Heather) punched the guy in the face, so funny!
4. Heather's glasses, so nerdy looking glasses!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. It was a pretty standard comedy drama. It was ok for what it offered

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Movie Review: Enemy of the State

Thursday, October 22, 2009 0 comments

Synopsis: An attorney is entangled in a web of national politics when a reporter friend accidentally records the murder of a senator. Unaware that he is in possession of the reporter's video, the attorney becomes the target of a National Security Agency investigation which nearly succeeds in destroying his personal and professional life. Only when he meets the mysterious Brill, a surveillance and information professional, does he begin to understand the stakes in this game.

Starring: Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight, Lisa Bonet, Regina King
Directed by: Tony Scott
U.S. Rating: R

As a big fan of Will Smith's work, I consider that Enemy of the State is one of the best thrillers in his career. At least, this film is one of my top favorite ones in my Will Smith's favorite movie list. With such an amazing cast, Enemy of the State offers a great plot about Robert Dean, a labor lawyer who gets involved in a mortal persecution after carrying unknowingly some vital evidence of an assassination that incriminates high political profiles in Washington. With Will Smith's lead role and Gene Hackman's supporting role, Enemy of the State offers an interesting and controversial plot about how far should our governments get trying to invade our privacy and personal rights. Great suspense with some interesting action scenes and unexpected final.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Gene Hackman is the key role in this movie. This greatly played supporting role provides great suspense and answers some of the key questions, not just to the lead role, but to all viewers
2. The last scene, when the government agents, FBI, lead and supporting roles, government members and Italian gang meet at the Italian restaurant and everybody start shooting at each other
3. The way he was permanently watched and followed, really interesting

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. I think that if they'd play that film with today's technology, it might have not been as intriguing and entertaining as it was 11 years ago

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Movie Review: Enter The Dragon

Thursday, September 24, 2009 0 comments

Synopsis: Lee, a member of a Shaolin Temple, is a master of the physical and spiritual disciplines of the martial arts, and is being visited by Braithwaite, a British law officer. Lee has been invited to a tri-annual martial arts tournament held on an island owned by Han, a reclusive billionaire who was once a member of the Temple but has now become a renegade. Braithwaite believes Han uses his tournaments as cover for narcotic and prostitution activities. Lee reluctantly agrees to enter the tournament, but his reluctance to confront Han disappears when a Shaolin monk reveals that during the previous staging of this tournament, he and Lee's sister were accosted by several toughs led by Han's personal bodyguard, an American named O'Hara. In the ensuing confrontation the monk cut a deep scar on O'Hara's face but Lee's sister ultimately perished, and at her gravesite Lee vowes revenge for her death. Also attending the tournament are two American martial arts experts, John Roper and Kelly Williams, who served together in Vietnam and took differing paths toward martial arts upon their discharge - Roper is on the run from Mafia gambling debt collectors, while Williams was accosted by two racist cops whom he'd dispatched before stealing their car to escape. All three will soon find themselves at the mercy of Han and his army of martial arts fighters as he protects his underground factory of narcotics and prostitution.

Starring: Bruce Lee, John Saxon, Jim Kelly, Shih Kien, Bob Wall
Directed by: Robert Clouse
U.S. Rating: R

What a classic! I'm honest, I'm a huge Bruce Lee fan. Even though the movie was largely set in Hong Kong, Enter The Dragon was the first Kung-Fu movie ever made by a major Hollywood Studio company.

An interesting detail about this movie, according with Wikipedia:

It is the last completed film Bruce Lee appeared in before his death. He died six days before the movie was set to be released.

In 2004, Enter the Dragon was deemed "culturally significant" and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

If you're into action movies from the 70's, this is one of the most important classics to watch. It's really entertaining. 100% recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. Bruce Lee fight scenes. He's the master, there's no other like him! In this movie, there are few great scenes where he shows some of his skills and amazing speed and gift with his hands and legs
2. It is so funny to watch these action movies from the 70's. The music involved in the suspense, action scenes is hilarious!
3. You can see the difference between the style of the american fighters and the asian fighters. Definitely they learned the art way too late! Even though, they were great!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Bruce Lee couldn't be part of the great opening of this movie! It sucked, just like Heath Ledger and The Dark Knight

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Movie Review: El Cartel

Tuesday, August 25, 2009 1 comments

Synopsis: Based on Mexico's current criminal climate, EL CÁRTEL is a rare look into the values and practices of the world's most intriguing and enigmatic industry - the multi-billion dollar business of drug trafficking. When Jules Land, a naïve business journalist, approaches Mexico's most notorious drug cartel and requests an audience with its leader, a one-time-priest turned murderous cutthroat, he quickly realizes he's in over his head. Wanting only the chance to kick-start his struggling career, Jules goes from seeking to understand the principles behind The Cartel's success, to fighting to return home with his wits - and his life - intact.

Starring: José Luis Franco, Freddy Douglas, Mauricio Islas, Tania Arredondo, Howard Gibson
Directed by: Brian J. Bagley
U.S. Rating: R

First of all, how in the world, a naïve business journalist will have a face to face interview with a Lord of Drugs? For someone who has lived most of his life in South America, I know that this is almost impossible to do. You will certainly get either killed trying. You just need to read or watch documentaries about Pablo Escobar, the most famous and terrible Lord of Drugs that have ever lived so far. This people are not a celebrity or politician that you just go to their assistants or secretaries and set an appointment to talk with them! anyway, I watched this movie and I might have liked that they showed (just the very top of the iceberg!) some of the hundred, maybe thousand different ways that drug dealers try to move their merchandise. Also, how they try to show in this movie their evil actions toward anyone that interfere in their business.

What did I like from this movie?

1. As I mentioned before, I liked that hey showed (just the very top of the iceberg!) some of the hundred, maybe thousand different ways that drug dealers try to move their merchandise. Also, how they try to show in this movie their evil actions toward anyone that interfere in their business.

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. That it's so hard to believe a story about a naive business journalist will have a face to face interview with a Lord of Drugs.

I would rate this movie with a 2/5

Funny movie! It has become in a classic for every Christmas. My wife makes me crazy every single Christmas just because she wants to watch this movie almost every single day! Well, it's a really funny Christmas movie for all the family members. Will Ferrell plays as the human raised by Santa and he's being treated as an elf, even though, everything shows him that something is wrong with him, since he's different from any other elf, starting with his height! He decides to go to New York City and meet his real father, who doesn't remember him and is too busy to pay attention to his visit. A really funny plot.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Every single scene when he tries to contact his dad
2. The funniest scene, when he calls elf the famous writer (who's a midget)
3. The moment when his dad takes him to work in the mailing room and he turns the room into a big party

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Well, it's a Christmas funny movie so, I could say that it has everything needed for a good laugh with your family at home
