Movie Trailer: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Walt Disney Studios has released the movie trailer for Nicolas Cage's latest film, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and it simply looks... Amazing! According with Walt Disney Studios, The Sorcerer's Apprentice is an epic comedy adventure about the story of a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice. I could add that it will bring such amazing, cool and very entertaining CGI effects, along with a great cast performance. I expect it to be one of the great summer blockbuster films in 2010!

Synopsis: Walt Disney Studios, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub, the creators of the National Treasure franchise, present The Sorcerer’s Apprentice — an innovative and epic comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil. Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath.

Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Jack & Jill vs The World

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Synopsis: Jack is a thirty-something advertising exec in New York City, living a life forged from routine. He is successful and stylish--and entirely bored until he meets Jill. In her twenties, fiery and adorable, Jill enters Jack's life like a hurricane. They meet and instantly connect, launching into a romance. Together they write a Manifesto of Rules to Live By, beginning with Rule 1: Be Honest. But after too many instances of Jill's disappearing, Jack forces Jill to reveal her secret.

Starring: Freddie Prinze Jr., Taryn Manning, Peter Stebbings, Hannah Lochner, Robin Dunne
Directed by: Jordan Gertner, Michael Jaffe, Nicholas D. Tabarrok
U.S. Rating: PG-13

The film is so ridiculously cheesy that it repelled ALL my attibutes to keep focused on the film and at least, enjoy it. As far as I remember, I've seen Freddy Prinze playing the same cheesy and boring role of the charming, romantic, handsome good guy that falls in love of the lead girl and live the perfect romance, breaking all the bounderies on their love journey. I've seen him playing this boring role over and over again. Jack & Jill vs the World is not an exception. He plays the role of an important business agent who falls inlove with a crazy girl who's facing lots of problems. They start a romantic relationship that will lead them to some critical and important decisions and actions in their lives.

I could provide more details, but I would write the escense of the plot in just a couple of lines. I couldn't recommend the film to anyone who is seriously looking for an entertaining and enjoyable film.

What did I like from this movie?

1. The only part tha I really enjoyed in this film is when Freddy Prinze wakes up one morning and he shows this big tatoo in his right arm. 20 minutes later, there's another morning scene when he wakes up and... guess what! He has the same tatoo, this time, in his left arm! Are the producers so retarded that they weren't able to identify this awful mistake? At least, it kept me interested in the film, just waiting for the next morning scene... maybe he'd get the same tatoo in his back of chest! So ridiculous

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. So ridiculously cheesy! I wanted to cut my vains watching this film

I would rate this movie with a 1/5

Freestyle Releasing has released the new movie trailer for Tim Allen & Sigourney Weaver's latest comedy film, Crazy on the Outside. This movie is directed by Tim Allen, who's part of the cast also. A great cast for (what I believe) a good family comedy film!

Synopsis: Tommy is fresh out of prison and ready for a second chance in life. Enter his loving sister Viki, her cynical husband Ed and their family. Tommy moves in with them, and when it comes to explaining to Grandma Tommy's whereabouts for the last three years, the truth-challenged Viki has the answer: "He's been in France!" With Grandma now speaking only French to Tommy and sporting a beret, Tommy is determined to flee Viki's house and complete the two missions closest to his heart: One, to revive his late father's business and two, to re-connect with his old flame Christy. Tragically Christy died in an accident. Or so says sister Viki. Reporting to his by-the-book probation officer Angela, Tommy lands a temporary job in a popular fast-food chain, Pirate Burger, where not only is he forced to dress like up like something resembling Captain Hook's younger brother, but he catches a fleeting glimpse of a beautiful departing customer who looks exactly like - Christy! "Pirate" Tommy chases the woman down to discover that, indeed, it is Christy, very much alive - and engaged to be married. But that doesn't stop her from throwing herself into Tommy's arms, until their blissful reunion is interrupted by Christy's current fiancee, Frank an electronic store magnate. Viki strikes again! But she only lied to her brother about Christy's demise to protect him from the news of Christy's nuptials. But who can protect him from his old 'friend' Gray whose video piracy operation is the reason Tommy went to jail in the first place. Gray is back on the move and trying to lure Tommy into a new scheme - and Gray isn't somebody who takes no for an answer. And while Tommy would like nothing more than to come clean to probation officer Angela, the last thing he wants to do is raise her suspicions - especially since he might be falling in love with her. With time running out and Gray's get rich scheme advancing forward, Tommy finds himself caught between Viki who will use anything from her vast repertoire of exaggerations to save her brother, and Angela the woman he loves who also happens to enforce the law. Add to this the rest of Tommy's adoring family that is as supportive of him as they are blind to the facts and Tommy will discover that the only way to win is to be true to what's inside you, especially when it's... Crazy on the Outside.

Killshot

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Synopsis: When a husband and wife witness a shakedown, they discover that the Witness Protection Program is no match for a pair of ruthless killers who want them dead.

Starring: Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke, Michelle Arvizu, Richard Zeppieri, Hal Holbrook, Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Directed by: John Madden
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Killshot is such an interesting thriller plot with a very unique and talented cast. Mickey Rourke plays the role of a contract killer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a complete different role for what we've been used to see him play... the nice romantic guy. This time, he plays the role of a very irresponsible and violent non-educated delinquent who has found in Mickey a tutor. Diane Lane plays the role of the real state agent who's been dealing with a difficult marriage relationship with Thomas Jane. When Mickey and Joseph confuse Thomas with Diane's boss, the owner of the real state company, she gets in trouble for being able to identify Mickey as the responsible of the assault. They immediately start being chased by these two delinquents and they need to be kept protected under the Witness Protection Program. Mickey and Joseph find the way to get the place where they've been relocated and they start the journey to complete their work. Will they be able to do it? Well, they're not that lucky, when Diane and her husband take the law on their own hands. A really interesting and entertaining action/thriller. Totally recommended for a good movie night at home.

What did I like from this movie?

1. I really enjoyed the different role played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. After watching him in most of his movies as the good romantic guy, watching him playing the role of a crazy irresponsible and violent delinquent, I found it pretty interesting!
2. The moment when Joseph breaks into the empty house, really funny!
3. The whole situation when Mikey and Joseph arrive to the real state offices and they get bit up by Diane's husband

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. There were few slow moments that made the film a little boring

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Following the most recent movies about vampires and the end of the human race, here's the new movie trailer for Ethan Hawke & William Dafoe's latest film, Daybreakers. I think we're getting a little too much into the "Vampires" movie gender lately, don't you think? It looks good anyway, hope you like it.

Synopsis: Edward Dalton is a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.

Lethal Weapon 4

Monday, December 7, 2009

Synopsis: LAPD Detectives Martin Riggs, Roger Murtaugh, and Lorna Cole battle a Chinese martial arts master who is the head of a counterfeiting ring.

Starring: Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, Chris Rock
Directed by: Richard Donner, Mic Rodgers, Conrad Palmisano
U.S. Rating: PG-13

One of my top favorite films franchise of all time. Lethal Weapon brought the best action/comedy of its kind on the late 80's and the 90's, by the hand of such an amazing cast, starring Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, joe Pesci and Rene Russo. On the latest sequel, Mel gibson and Danny Glover are back to find the responsibles of smuggling Chinese slaves into the U.S. and force them to work for them. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover bring the same great action scenes and hilarious situations as they did in the three previous films, this time, with the amazing support roles of Jet Li and Chris Rock. Lethal Weapon 4 was Jet Li's first participation in a Hollywood production. Lethal Weapon might not be the best one of this great franchise, but it definitely offers a really entertaining plot.

What did I like from this movie?

1. The funny scene at the dentist's office with the old Chinese man. Hilarious!
2. Jet Li's first performance. I remember the first time I watched this movie, the great impression I got for the Martial Arts scenes
3. Chris Rock made honor of his surname... he rocks!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. They haven't brought a new sequel in over 10 years!

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

The Weinstein Company has released the third trailer for Kate Hudson and Penelope Cruz's latest film, Nine. The film will be released on December 25th, 2009 (Christmas Day). It is kind of difficult for me to know if I'm going to really enjoy this film, since I'm not into musicals, but it seems to have some good humor and such an amazing cast. Knowing that it already has a few Oscar nominations without even being released, I'll have some good expectations about it.

Synopsis: World famous film director Guido Contini reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife, his mistress, his film star muse, his confidant and costume designer, an American fashion journalist, the whore from his youth and his mother.

Imagine That

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Synopsis: Evan Danielson is a successful financial executive who has more time for his blackberry than his seven-year-old daughter. When he has a crisis of confidence and his career starts going down the drain, however, he finds the solution to all his problems in his daughter's imaginary world.

Starring: Eddie Murphy, Thomas Haden Church, Nicole Ari Parker, Ronny Cox, Martin Sheen
Directed by: Karey Kirkpatrick
U.S. Rating: PG

Eddie Murphy is back in another corky, silly but entertaining comedy film. Eddie Murphy seems that he either has been trapped into the same character stereotype for the last few years, playing the same kind of comedies and being away from those great movies that made him so famous in the past. Anyway, Imagine That offers some few great surprises, just like Yara Shahidi's amazing first performance on the big screen, or the weird and so exotic Thomas Haden Church's supporting role. The plot is based on a successful financial analyst who needs more than magic to save his career. Eddie needs to balance his professional and personal life, trying to find time to share more with his daugther, who's been playing with a "magical blanket" that allows her to talk with invisible friends. These friends give her vital information for the future and they help her and especially Eddie, to succeed on his career and financial projects. A really silly comedy with a really entertaining and moral message. A good movie for a family movie night.

What did I like from this movie?

1. I really enjoyed the way the director starts with the scene when Eddie is trying to recover the blanket and get more information for his job, the way he starts in the middle, goes back and finishes almost in the same place
2. Nicole Ari Parker, a beautiful exotic-good looking woman :)
3. Yara Shahidi's performance. This kid played such an impressive and fresh role in this movie. Great presentation for her first time on a movie

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Eddie Murphy has been playing these cheesy roles for a long time. It's time for him to go back and start playing those great action/comedy roles that made him famous

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Here's the first movie trailer for the latest comedy film with Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman, Saint John of Las Vegas. It seems to be pretty good. I personally like Steve Buscemi, I believe he's one of those great actors that keep himself under the radar. Buscemi and Silverman working together, it might be an interesting match worth to watch!

Synopsis: After a run of bad luck, John, a compulsive gambler, runs away from Las Vegas and toward a normal job and life. Taking a nondescript position in an auto insurance company in Albuquerque, he tries to get ahead in the straight world, amid the ever-present temptations of scratch-off lotto tickets. When his boss, Mr. Townsend, asks John to accompany his top fraud debunker, Virgil on an investigation of a dubious car "accident" near Vegas, John sees an opportunity to get a promotion , though he's concerned about returning to the gambling game. Before leaving he becomes involved with his eccentric co-worker Jill, a dalliance that has the potential to become a real relationship. Soon John is on the road with Virgil, where they encounter a series of offbeat characters, including a wheelchair-bound stripper, a nude militant, a park Ranger, and a carnival human torch. While Virgil is the supposed leader of the investigation, it's John who begins to finally assert himself, pushing the case closer to a conclusion. Through the journey, John's confidence builds, and he realizes that he can't escape his gambling addiction by running away from it--it will follow him wherever he goes. It's only when he returns to Vegas and his experiences there finally send him on the path to breaking free.

Harry Brown

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Synopsis: An elderly ex-serviceman and widower looks to avenge his best friend's murder by doling out his own form of justice.

Starring: Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer
Directed by: Daniel Barber
U.S. Rating: R

It's pretty interesting watching Michael Caine in a totally different role as we usually see him in movies. We're used to see him as the loyal Albert in the successful Batman franchise, or the quiet but extremely smart janitor in Flawless, in comedies like Austin Powers or Miss Congeniality, but we don't see him in such dark and great thriller movies like Harry Brown. Following the same style of Gran Torino, Michael Caine tries to revenge his old friend's death and starts hunting down every single one of the members of the gang that horribly murdered his friend and has turned a little town in England in an unbearable place to live. He becomes into some kind of "Vigilante", helping two police investigators to solve the death of his friend and recover the peace of the town they live in. Could we call Michael Caine the British version of Clint Eastwood? After watching this film, I'd consider it so.

What did I like from this movie?

1. The best scene of this movie is the moment when he's decided to get a gun and visits the drug/guns dealer. The scene was incredibly played by all the people involved in it, especially Caine
2. The film offers an unexpected end, especially for the people involved in it
3. Michael Caine's performance is so brilliant! Anyone can believe that he's the sweetest and most friendly septuagenarian man ever

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. There were some moments when I couldn't understand some of the conversations, especially during the interrogation sessions due to the strong accent used by the people involved

I would rate this movie with a 4/5
