Movie Review: Don't Bother to Knock

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 0 comments

Synopsis: Airline pilot Jed stays at the New York hotel where girlfriend Lyn is a singer. He sees Nell in a window opposite his and they get chummy. When the girl she's baby-sitting, Bunny, enters Nell goes crazy and sends her to her room. She fantasizes that Jed is her long lost fiance. Jed comes to realize that Nell is more than a little whacko.

Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Richard Widmark, Anne Bancroft
Directed by: Roy Ward Baker
U.S. Rating: Not Rated

This movie wasn't actually bad but Marilyn Monroe plays a psycho, literally. You might be shocked, however, to know that she played a psycho quite well. To be honest, I didn't know Marilyn Monroe was that good of an actress until this film. I had only seen her in her usual sexy roles. This is definitely not a feel-good movie, though. Don't Bother to Knock is more of a suspense movie. It's worth the watch if you aren't expecting a song from Marilyn.

What did I like from this movie?

1. I liked that Marilyn Monroe played a completely different role than was usual for her
2. Marilyn still looked beautiful in this movie!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. It is upsetting that she hurts the little girl she's babysitting

I would rate this movie with a 3/5
