Synopsis: Charlie and Phil are so consumed by their high profile advertising jobs that they are completely missing out on the joys of fatherhood. After failing to excite the public about vegetable cereal, Charlie and Phil are fired from their ad jobs. That means no more expensive day care for their sons at the exclusive Chapman Academy, run by the harsh taskmistress Miss Gwyneth Harridan. While floundering aimlessly in search of employment and tending to his four-year-old son Ben during the day while his wife Kim is at work, Charlie has an idea. If he and Phil can handle taking care of two kids, how much harder can it be to supervise ten? Much harder than they ever imagined. Every kid is different and every one is a hilarious challenge, whether they're suffering from sugar rush, fantasizing about being super heroes, or just demolishing everything in sight, Charlie and Phil soon realize they are in over their heads. Way over their heads.
Starring: Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Steve Zahn, Regina King, Kevin Nealon
Directed by: Steve Carr
U.S. Rating: PG
Another good and entertaining film with Eddie Murphy. It's been a while since we saw Eddie in a good action/thriller film, or at least, a good adult comedy film. He's been totally engaged in these kind of kids comedy films for few years now, so I would really want to watch him in one of those great films who made him famous.
Daddy Day Care is not bad at all. In fact, is one of the best kids comedy films he's played in so far. I totally enjoyed the film. It is a pretty simple plot, but the script is funny and enjoyable. It will definitely make you laugh and will keep you and your kids entertained.
If you haven't watched it yet, Daddy Day Care is about Charlie, a successful advertisement agent who has recently lost his job. He decides to take care of the house and baby sit his little kid Ben, while his wife works. His friend and co-worker Phil lost his job also. On a day out with their kids, they find an opportunity to make some money as baby sitters. With this idea, they decide to open "Daddy Day Care" a home-based child-care service.
Facing some crazy, bizarre and really funny situations, they will soon progress on their business and will become to a threat to an important school in the area.
This experience will help Charlie to share more and better experiences with his son, know him better and see what really matters in his life. When Charlie and Phil get their job back, they have to stop taking care of all the kids they have been attending, but when Charlie realizes how important this experience has been for him and his kid, he quits... convinces Phil to quit and they focus on their promising Daddy Day Care business.
If you're looking for a good and goofy comedy film, this is a great option to watch.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The film brings a really good cast
2. It is really entertaining, offering some really good laughs
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. It is a simple script, but hey! What can you expect from it! It is a goofy comedy film
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Buddy himself has no inner demons since he acts out at every opportunity and that includes making lewd comments about Dave's girlfriend Linda and goading Dave into confronting every slight, past or present, head-on. But Buddy finally goes too far and Dave must decide whether to crawl back into his shell or stand up for himself. Could it be that Buddy's confounding and contradictory treatment is just what the doctor ordered?

U.S. Rating: PG-13
One crazy hilarious film that matched the perfect combination: an amazing cast, good direction and a pretty funny script.
Anger Management is about the story of Dave Buznik, a young executive who faced a traumatic experience being a little kid. He was embarrassed while he was trying to kiss the girl of his dreams when another boy dropped his shorts down in front of all his friends, people and especially, the girl. Now that he's an adult, he has some issues trying to kiss or show affection to his girlfriend in public.
During a trip for work, he faces an incident inside the plane and he needs to face the judge who obligates him to ger enrolled in an anger management program for 20 hours. He'll face some really crazy situations while he's involved in this program, especially when he faces some events that will make him feel like he's losing his girlfriend.
The end of all these crazy situations, program and events are finally related with a secret help his girlfriend has set to help him to take a step forward and control his old fears and traumas, and more important, show her the love he feels in public and feel comfortable to commit and propose her.
A hilarious plot with some amazing role performances played. It was actually funny to see that Adam Sandler was put in a second place, overshadowed by Jack Nicholson's hilarious role.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Jack Nicholson rocked in this film! He was simply hilarious!
2. A pretty funny plot with such an amazing cast!

Jim's grandmother is sick and wants to see Jim walk down the aisle, so they're going for it in two frantic weeks. Stifler plans to be there (for the bridesmaids!) and, more importantly, to throw the ultimate bachelor party (for the strippers!). Finch is all for the hedonistic rituals, but not for letting Stifler steal the maid of honor, who happens to be Michelle's sexy younger sister, Cadence. But while everybody else sweats and frets, Jim's Dad is cool as ever, dispensing advice that no one wants to hear and getting ready for one of the best days of his life.

Normally, huge hits like American Pie can't handle a sequel without falling into a boring, nonsense of unfunny content. This is not the case for this funny franchise. American Pie I, II and American Wedding is a perfect example of how to maintain the story and sequels as funny, creative and entertaining as the first one. There are other films that are (supposedly) related with these three original films, some of them even have one or two members of the original cast (for example, Eugene Levy), but they have nothing to do with the original trilogy and their creative funny content.
This film brings some really interesting details to their fans. First of all, American Wedding didn't fall into something boring or unfunny. It has some crazy bizarre content, but at the same time, a original and creative plot that will keep you laughing from one scene to another one.
I remember a while ago when some members of the cast were asked about a future sequel, they commented that there was a big chance for it, possibly about an affair, a baby birth or any other situation that could reunite the team. It's been almost 7 years since American Wedding, but the good thing is that new rumors are flying around the entertainment industry about a new sequel or reboot of this great franchise.
If you enjoy these comedy films and haven't had the chance to watch this one, I totally recommend it. I'm sure you'll have some good laughs.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Definitely, the best of this film is Seann William Scott's role, Stifler. It was hilarious! His change of personality and his dance scene at the gay night club were the best!
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. It's been a long time since they made this film without coming with a new fresh and good sequel or reboot with the original cast
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Synopsis: Willie T. Stokes is a washed-up, wise-cracking Department Store Santa who can't help but be more naughty than nice. Underneath his ill-fitting red suit, Willie is actually a safecracker who makes one big score every year--on Christmas Eve. As shoppers head home from the mall, this Santa and his ingenious Elf--Willie's midget partner-in-crime Marcus--crack the store safe and make off with their own holiday stash. But then comes Phoenix. Here Santa and his Elf find their annual heist endangered by a pesky store manager, a savvy mall detective, a sexy Santa fan and an innocent but beleaguered 8-year-old misfit who decides to believe that Willie--as intoxicated, acid-tongued and felonious as he seems to be--is the real Santa he's been seeking.

I know Christmas is over, but I couldn't let this movie off my daily reviews. I have just a very few list of favorite Christmas movies, and to be honest, this one is at the top of my list. Bad Santa is one of the darkest comedy movies I've ever watched and I loved it! Bad Santa is not that kind of Christmas movies that you'd love to watch to get in the mood and feel the Christmas spirit... far from that! It is as crude, offensive, nasty and profane as it can be! Billy Bob Thornton plays the lead role as the helpless drunk Santa who works in big department stores with his midget partner as part of their alibi to steal the money kept in the stores' safe. While working on one of these stores, Bad Santa (Billy Bob) meets "The Kid" (Brett Kelly), one of the sweetest fat kids ever, who believes in Santa and wants to be his friend. The kid gets involved in Santa's personal messy life and Santa becomes his protector and best friend.
Definitely one of my top favorite comedy movies! It is one of my "must watch" every single Christmas season. I laughed out loud all movie (literally!). Totally recommended!
What did I like from this movie?
1. Billy Bob Thornton's role was fabulous!
2. Such an amazingly funny dark comedy
3. The fat kid plays such a great role also, he's able to break the heart of the viewers!
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Absolutely nothing! (Well... the trailer doesn't show how funny this film is! This is one of those few cases when the trailer can't sell the film)
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Freaky and scary! Gin Gwai is simply the original version of the movie "The Eye" played by Jessica Alba. I believe that Hollywood has to learn so much about horror movies from the japanese horror writers. Movies like Ringu (The Ring) and Gin Gwai (The Eye) are so much better and scarier than the american remakes. The plot is essentially the same of the remake, nothing changes. The girl that has been blind for over 17 years and gets a corneal transplant. After this corneal transplant, she starts getting visions and she's capable to see dead people around her. When she looks for some answers and more information about her eyes' donour, she discovers that she might be the key element to save other people from a tragic death. As I said, a really scary but really entertaining movie. Worth to watch if you ever want to watch a good foreign horror movie.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The scene at the hospital, when she starts getting visions of the people who have died recently there
2. The scene when she's drawing at the table and she sees the lady in the corner and suddenly she jumps in front of her screaming that she's in her seat
3. All the process to identify the situations and future accident
4. The kid with the hat that is always in the hall when she gets to her apartment
5. The old man that is standing in the corner of the elevator facing the wall, and then he starts turning slowly towards her floating in the air

I decided to read some previous reviews about Creep before spending 90 minutes of my time watching this film. We borrowed the movie from some friends who recommended us the film so, with this recommendation and the reviews I read, I thought we could enjoy a nice scary British horror film. Honestly, it is one of the worst horror films I've seen in years. It is all about blood, screaming, running, spending 5 minutes in a poop tank with another random guy and kill the bad guy just seconds before the doors are opened for the first train of the morning. I noticed that many people have enjoyed this horror film, I should ask them what's the catch in it, since I didn't get it.
What did I like from this movie?
1. When the girl finally kills the weirdo and lays on the floor at the underground terminal and the guy in the blue suit gets close to her and drops some coins right next to her thinking that she's a homeless
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. So many fake screaming scenes
2. The girl goes through one of the most traumatic situations in life, and she just lays in the floor like nothing happens, and she even laughs when the guy drops the coins on the floor
3. It didn't need too much effort for the actors in this movie. Most of them had only like 2 or 3 conversation lines before they were killed
I would rate this movie with a 1/5

Synopsis: Cidade de Deus (City of God) is a housing project built in the 1960's that--in the early 80's--became one of the most dangerous places in Rio de Janeiro. The tale tells the stories of many characters whose lives sometimes intersect. However, all is seen through the eyes of a singular narrator: Buscapé, a poor black youth too frail and scared to become an outlaw, but also too smart to be content with underpaid, menial jobs. He grows up in a very violent environment. The odds are all against him. But Buscapé soon discovers that he can see reality differently than others. His redemption is that he's been given an artist's point of view as a keen-eyed photographer. As Buscapé is not the real protagonist of the film--only the narrator--he is not the one who makes the decisions that will determine the sequence of events. Nevertheless, not only his life is attached to what happens in the story, but it is also through Buscapé's perspective of life that one can understand the complicated layers and humanity of a world, apparently condemned to endless violence.

Even though, I know perfectly the cruel reality of crime in any Latin American country, because I was born and grew up in one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America, I'm not wondered of this movie's success. I believe that the success is not just related with the plot, but the direction and movie edition. I could say that for a foreign movie in 2003, this movie was one of the best foreign movies in the early decade. I love brazilian movies, they have really good actors/actresses. Brazil is well known for its great and amazing soap operas, offering fresh and great stories. Most of us have heard about Sonia Braga and watched many of her movies, one of Brazilian TV and Movie icons. City of God brings to the big screen the true story of violence and crime on the poor streets and Fabelas in Rio de Janeiro. A cruel and violent movie, but totally recommended if you enjoy movies with plots based on true stories.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The great job done by the director and editor of this movie, being able to intesect the life of so many different characters in just one story and show through this movie, the story, violence, crime and life of all these people
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. I could say that this movie is not the easiest film to watch due to the violence and story, but it's worth to watch though
I would rate this movie with a 3/5
Directed by: Fernando Meirelles, Katia Lund

Even though, I know perfectly the cruel reality of crime in any Latin American country, because I was born and grew up in one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America, I'm not wondered of this movie's success. I believe that the success is not just related with the plot, but the direction and movie edition. I could say that for a foreign movie in 2003, this movie was one of the best foreign movies in the early decade. I love brazilian movies, they have really good actors/actresses. Brazil is well known for its great and amazing soap operas, offering fresh and great stories. Synopsis: Captain Nathan Algren is a man adrift. The battles he once fought now seem distant and futile. Once he risked his life for honor and country, but, in the years since the Civil War, the world has changed. Pragmatism has replaced courage, self-interest has taken the place of sacrifice and honor is nowhere to be found--especially out West where his role in the Indian Campaigns ended in disillusionment and sorrow. Somewhere on the unforgiving plains near the banks of the Washita River, Algren lost his soul. A universe away, another soldier sees his way of life about to disintegrate. He is Katsumoto, the last leader of an ancient line of warriors, the venerated Samurai, who dedicated their lives to serving emperor and country. Just as the modern way encroached upon the American West, cornering and condemning the Native American, it also engulfed traditional Japan. The telegraph lines and railroads that brought progress now threaten those values and codes by which the Samurai have lived and died for centuries. But Katsumoto will not go without a fight. The paths of these two warriors converge when the young Emperor of Japan, wooed by American interests who covet the growing Japanese market, hires Algren to train Japan's first modern, conscript army. But as the Emperor's advisors attempt to eradicate the Samurai in preparation for a more Westernized and trade-friendly government, Algren finds himself unexpectedly impressed and influenced by his encounters with the Samurai. Their powerful convictions remind him of the man he once was. Thrust now into harsh and unfamiliar territory, with his life and perhaps more important, his soul, in the balance, the troubled American soldier finds himself at the center of a violent and epic struggle between two eras and two worlds, with only his sense of honor to guide him.

U.S. Rating: R
I've said it before in this blog. so far, this movie is one of the three best movies with Tom Cruise (the other two are Collateral and War of the Worlds). This is just my personal opinion, but he played such a great role in this movie. Many crossed and mixed reviews and critics have been given to this movie. Some positives, some negatives... but the truth is that I totally enjoyed the story, the customs, the countrysides, the fights and combat scenes and final message expressed on this movie. I personally recommend this movie.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The fights and combat scenes as well as the learning process of this ancient culture and become a samurai at the end of the movie
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. The final battle seemed to be a copy of the epic battle between the Scots and English in Braveheart
I would rate this movie with a 5/5

Synopsis: Dewey Finn is a hell-raising guitarist with delusions of grandeur. Kicked out of his band and desperate for work, Dewey impersonates a substitute teacher and turns a class of fifth grade high-achievers into high-voltage rock and rollers. The private school's uptight and skeptical head, Principal Mullins, watches on as the 'new sub' preps the kids for Battle of the Bands.
Starring: Jack Black, Joan Cusack, Mike White, Sarah Silverman, Joey Gaydos
Directed by: Richard Linklater
U.S. Rating: PG-13
One of my favorite movies. I believe it's one of the best (if not the best!) movies with Jack Black. Jack Black brings such a fresh and really funny role to this plot full of different situations, when Jack, being a frustrated musician and looser gets a temp job impersonating a substitute teacher (his roommate!). He inmediately turns his class in a complete rock band, including really hilarious situations, until the very last moment when they have they're great presentation in a rock band contest. I've watched this movie like 10 times so far and never get tired of it!
What did I like from this movie?
1. At the beginning, when he's playing with his band and jumps from the platform to the public and they don't catch him
2. When he's teaching his first lessons during his first day at work, changing all the rules and doing absolutely nothing, just waiting for the time to go home, while the kids are expecting him to teach them and give them some homework. Then, the second day he finds out the music talent of every kid in his class... the rest is history.
3. The whole situation when he's being busted and has to leave the job as substitute teacher, including with the next morning, when they play at the rock band contest.
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. I know Jack Black loves to sing, but I believe that the success of this movie motivated him to work on his next movie: Tenacious D, which I expected to be as good as this one, but honestly, it sucked. I believed because of the cast working with him.
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

U.S. Rating: PG
Funny movie! It has become in a classic for every Christmas. My wife makes me crazy every single Christmas just because she wants to watch this movie almost every single day! Well, it's a really funny Christmas movie for all the family members. Will Ferrell plays as the human raised by Santa and he's being treated as an elf, even though, everything shows him that something is wrong with him, since he's different from any other elf, starting with his height! He decides to go to New York City and meet his real father, who doesn't remember him and is too busy to pay attention to his visit. A really funny plot.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Every single scene when he tries to contact his dad
2. The funniest scene, when he calls elf the famous writer (who's a midget)
3. The moment when his dad takes him to work in the mailing room and he turns the room into a big party
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Well, it's a Christmas funny movie so, I could say that it has everything needed for a good laugh with your family at home
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

I expected this sequel for years! This new plot was loaded with great effects and amazing action scenes, as well as some really funny situations. If you haven't watched this movie, you're missing a hell of an action-comedy movie. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith bring a new sequel loaded with new situations about their friendship and professional relationship, mixed with some other bizarre situations in their personal lives as well as the case they're working on. Definitely a MUST, if you haven't watched it yet.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The first scene when Martin Lawrence is shot in his butt
2. The scene with the Jamaican guys, really nice camera effects while they're shooting at these guys
3. The car persecution with the Ferrari, explosions, accidents, TV cameras, etc.
4. The moment when Martin Lawrence has to check the dead bodies and find the chick with big boobs and then gets drugged. Closing with the moment when they're at their boss' house and they have to get him in the shower after doing some really weird stuff
5. All the action scene in Cuba
What did I dislike from this movie?
That I haven't heard about a new sequel!
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Starring: Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Jeremy Piven, Ellen Pompeo
Directed by: Todd Phillips
U.S. Rating: R
A funny and very entertaining plot, when three old friends trying to escape from their lives and daily routines decide to create their own fraternity with the weirdest selection of losers and old people, trying to bring back their golden years at school.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Definitely, the whole situation with Blue was one of the funniest components in this plot.
2. I really laughed when they went out and kidnapped the first members of their new fraternity, when they're hunting one by one with their women stocks in their heads and can't be mean with some of them or their relatives (ex. the scene at the parking lot).
3. The reason why Frank can't drink... he totally loses his mind. After falling on this temptation at the welcome party, he runs naked to the gymnasium, really funny.
4. The whole qualification process to be accepted and all the tests they had to face.
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. It could be even more entertaining and funny. I believe the cast brought three really funny movie comedians, so we could expect more from it, but it was really entertaining though. I can't wait for the sequel in 2011!
I would rate this movie with a 3/5
