Synopsis: Bucky is a small town grocery bagger, going nowhere in life -- until he discovers that his conservative parents were once adult film stars! Armed with the belief that he has found his destiny, Bucky packs up and heads out to LA, hoping to follow in his parents' footsteps.

Starring: Nick Swardson, Christina Ricci, Don Johnson, Stephen Dorff, Ido Mosseri, Kevin Nealon
Directed by: Tom Brady
U.S. Rating: R
There are bad films, and there's Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star. I must be honest, even though I knew it would be a lousy film, I thought it would be (at least) entertaining in some way. Well, I was right when I thought it would be a lousy film, but I didn't expect it to be that bad.
I kinda like Nick Swardson. This guy has always tried to make his best to make you laugh on his previous roles and films. I believe he's had some decent comedy roles in the past, for example, in Just Go With It and Don't Mess With The Zohan. Christina Ricci has also been a pretty decent actress, and I believe I don't need to mention Don Johnson's reputation. But, what really happened here? Honestly! It looks like everyone was just looking desperately an opportunity for being on a film, no matter how bad and disastrous it could be. I would have expected something better from Don Johnson and Christina Ricci, even though, I must recognize that Christina Ricci tried her best, maybe too hard for this film.
The biggest flaw on this film was actually, its plot. I think whoever wrote this script, should be banned from Hollywood. It had no sense, creativity, humor or connection with the audience.
I just hope that these kind of experiences and horrible film disasters teach these actors to choose a better script and opportunity and don't embarrace themselves.
In case you're wondering what's the film about, the story centers on a small-town child-like man, Bucky Larson, who stumbles upon a family secret: His quiet and reserved parents were famous porn stars in the 1970s. This motivates him to leave northern Iowa for Hollywood, hoping to follow in their footsteps and fulfill his destiny as the biggest adult-film star in the world. Unfortunately he lacks two things, any idea of how to become a porn star like his parents, and a decent sized penis. However his incredibly small penis ends up providing him with fame due to it making women appreciate the size of their own partner's penis more. Along the way he meets many odd characters, a local waitress who is very kindhearted, an overly selfish roommate, a failing porn director, and his own polar opposite and later antagonist, a porn star who goes by the nickname "Dick Shadow" due to his massive penis size.
I would rate this movie with a 0.5/5

Synopsis: Three obsessive bird watchers go off on their "Big Year," duking it out to spot and record the highest number of species in 1998--the year El Nino brought an unprecedented number of species to North America. During the course of their wild, ultra competitive adventure, the guys learn that there just may be other things more important than winning.

Starring: Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Brian Dennehy, Anjelica Huston, Rashida Jones
Directed by: David Frankel
U.S. Rating: PG
How could this film not get the attention it really deserved?! I must say it has been actually one of THE best films I've watched so far this year.
First of all, I'd like to explain what a "Big Year" is. According with Wikipedia, a Big Year is an informal competition among birders to see who can see or hear the largest number of species of birds within a single calendar year and within a specific geographical area. A Big Year may be done within a single US state, a Canadian province, within the lower 48 continental U.S. states, or within the American Birding Association area (i.e. the 49 continental U.S. states (including Alaska), Canada and the French islands St. Pierre and Miquelon, plus adjacent waters to a distance of 200 miles from land or half the distance to a neighboring country, whichever is less. Excluded by these boundaries are Bermuda, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Greenland).
So, the film is about three different stories that are combined in this particular annual event. Kenny Bostick (Owen Wilson) is the best birder. He's won the most recent yearly competitions and even has set some important records. He's the man to beat. He's married to his BEAUTIFUL wife Jessica (Rosamund Pike), living in a great house, and they've been working on the plans to have their first baby, even though, no matter how great his life is, his real passion and love is "birding". Brad Harris (Jack Black) works on an office while he learns and memorizes every single bird sound. That's his passion, his goal and dream, to participate in the annual birding competition, and beat the best, Kenny Bostick. The only problem is that he doesn't have the money, time off at work and especially, his family support. His dad believes he's a loser for working on these dreams and doesn't waste an opportunity to express that. And finally, we have Stu Preissler (Steve Martin). A successful business man who wants to retire, leaving the direction of his empire to the company board, while he takes his time off to go and do what he's been dreaming and preparing for years, birding.
The film brings some really funny and entertaining moments, amazing landscape views, a fresh joyful story, but most, most important, such an amazing moral message at the end of the film, when every single one of these participants learn their most important lesson in life, good and bad ones.
I really, really enjoyed the film, every single minute of it, the moral message and the excellent and hilarious performance of this amazing cast.
I would rate this movie with a 5/5

Synopsis: Some teachers just don't give an F. For example, there's Elizabeth. She's foul-mouthed, ruthless, and inappropriate. She drinks, she gets high, and she can't wait to marry her meal ticket and get out of her bogus day job. When she's dumped by her fiance, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute - competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy. When Elizabeth also finds herself fighting off the advances of a sarcastic, irreverent gym teacher, the consequences of her wild and outrageous schemes give her students, her coworkers, and even herself an education like no other.

Starring: Cameron Diaz, Lucy Punch, Jason Segel, Justin Timberlake, John Michael Higgins
Directed by: Jake Kasdan
U.S. Rating: R
Another lousy script saved by the great work of a unique and hilarious cast. Bad teacher brings the funny side of the worst and meanest attitude of a school teacher, played by Cameron Diaz.
Bad Teacher is all about the story of Elizabeth Halsey, a Chicago middle school teacher who curses at her students, consumes lots of alcohol, smokes marijuana, and only shows movies while she sleeps through class. She never took her job seriously, since her only plan in life was to marry a wealthy man who would care of her and provide her with all the luxury and confort she wants. She plans to quit teaching and marry her wealthy fiancé, but when she gets home from her last day at school, she finds her fiancé with his mother waiting for her to give her the news that he dumped her, forcing Elizabeth to get back her job as a teacher. While she's at her very bottom at her job performance and goals, she meets the new substitute teacher, Scott Delacorte, who is also wealthy, and obviously, will try to get his attention and love. Amy Squirrel, a dedicated teacher and colleague of Elizabeth, also pursues Scott while the school's gym teacher, Russell Gettis, makes advances on Elizabeth which she rejects.
Since Scott's last girlfriend had a "big heart" (and breasts), Elizabeth reafirms her intention to get surgery to enlarge her breasts, believing she is being overlooked for women with larger chests. However, she cannot afford the $10,000 procedure. The war between Elizabeth and Amy over Scott's attention will increase on every action they take. Elizabeth will do whatever it takes to raise the money she needs for her surgery, and Amy will complain against her methods, implying that she might have stole money and cheated on some of the events they worked on.
At the end, after a serie of events where Amy and Scott show their true nature, and Russell Gettis, the nice gym teacher finally gets Elizabeth's attention, the new school year starts, Elizabeth is kinder to her co-workers, has started a relationship with Russell, and did not get the breast enlargement because she feels that she looks fine the way she is. Elizabeth also has a new position in the school as the new guidance counselor.
I must admit that I totally enjoyed the cast performance. Cameron Diaz and Lucy Punch saved the day with their roles and hilarious attitude. Lucy Punch always scares me (in a funny way) with her weird personality, since I personally think that Lucy Punch is the new Molly Shannon. It was not Justin Timberlake's best performance, but he brought some hilarious situations to the plot, along with Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins. As mentioned before, a pretty lousy script that was taken to another step, thanks to the cast unique talented humor.
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Synopsis: For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world -- Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before.

Starring: Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Adetokumboh M Cormack
Directed by: Jonathan Liebesman
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Battle: Los Angeles, definitely one of the most expected films in 2011. The whole production and advertising was perfect. The drama and action shown on these trailers were more than intense that I definitely wanted to watch the film really bad.
But, one thing is what you expect from a film like this, and what you really get. I've said before that there's not much room for creativity in these kind of Sci-Fi films where the human kind is being attacked and invaded by aliens. Just very few films have really impressed me, for example, the most recent one... District 9.
I remember few months ago when I had the chance to watch Skyline. A film with great CGI effects but so cheap on its content. I was extremely disappointed when I saw the film, since it didn't bring anything good other than great CGI effects. I wouldn't say it was what I got from Battle: Los Angeles. I must say it had a much better plot, DEFINITELY a much, much better cast, but there was no room for something different. It was just more of what we've got so far with these kind of films.
And when I say that it didn't bring something original or creative I mean, for example, that an extremely strong force from another planet that has been destroying the main cities around the world comes to fight with "conventional" weapons. I don't see special weapons, I see machine guns and conventional granades! There's a moment when they notice these aliens are capable to intercept their radio communications, but they destroy the mother ship planning an air strike with a radio conversation... So, there was some things that showed some lack of creativity on the script.
I must give some credits on the effects and especially, the cast. Some overrated drama and lots, lots, lots of explosions.
If you're into these kind of Sci-Fi alien invation films, it is a film that you can enjoy... Definitely 100 times better than Skyline or Monsters.
In case you want to know more details about the film, here's the complete plot: On August 11, 2011, mysterious objects thought to be meteorites crash into Earth's oceans near several major cities including Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, New Orleans,Mexico City,New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Barcelona, Hamburg, Sydney. These objects are revealed to be spacecraft containing hostile alien forces. The U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton arrive in Los Angeles to defend against alien ground forces and assist in the evacuation of civilians in preparation for a bombing campaign. Among the military's forces are Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), a 20-year veteran U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant who lost many men under his command during his last deployment in Iraq. Nantz had planned to retire, but the situation requires him to replace the platoon sergeant of a platoon from "E" Company, 2nd Battalion 5th Marines.
The Platoon Commander, 2nd Lieutenant William Martinez (Ramón Rodríguez), attends a briefing at an FOB (Forward Operating Base). The platoon's mission is to rescue civilians from an LAPD police station with a three-hour time limit before the Air Force bombs the area. They are ambushed by aliens multiple times and suffer casualties. They also encounter a group of U.S. Army soldiers from the 40th Infantry Division, including an Air Force intelligence Technical Sergeant Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez). Eventually, the combined team reaches the police station, finding five civilians inside. A helicopter arrives and attempts to evacuate some of the wounded Marines, but it is destroyed by an alien air unit upon takeoff.
The Marines commandeer a bus for evacuation. Prior to evacuation, they find a wounded alien and with the help of one of the civilians, they learn of the aliens' weaknesses and military tactics; finding that the alien infantry have a weak point in the torso, that the alien attack aircraft are remote-controlled drones and the aliens monitor and locate Earth military forces through monitoring their radio communications. The Marines speculate that there must be a central command center, and that its destruction would eliminate control of the alien drones, opening the enemy forces to air attack. On a freeway, they encounter a lone M1 Abram that is under attack and subsequently destroyed by the aliens. The bus is then attacked and the Marines begin rappelling the civilians off the side of the freeway. One of the civilians, Joe Rincon (Michael Peña), is wounded after firing on the aliens. Martinez is also wounded and sacrifices himself to destroy an enemy unit by detonating C-4 explosives inside the bus, shortly after placing Nantz in command of the platoon.
Nantz leads what remains of the platoon outside the bombing zone, and they rest at a convenience store. A news report speculates that the aliens have attacked Earth for its water supply which they use as fuel. The team waits for the bombing to begin, but nothing happens. They arrive at the FOB, only to discover that it has already been destroyed by the aliens, nullifying the airstrike. They decide to head for another extraction point, where a helicopter should be available to evacuate them. Before they embark, Rincon dies of his wounds and Corporal Lockett (whose brother died under Nantz's command) openly doubts Nantz's ability to lead. Nantz and Lockett come to terms with their guilt and anger, and the platoon reaches the extraction point using a LAV-25 and a HMMWV. As they are being evacuated, Nantz spots a large black area on the ground where electric power seems to be disabled. Nantz believes the black area to be the location of the alien command center and that it is hidden underground. Nantz and his platoon disembarks from the helicopter, planning to find the exact location of the command center so they can call in a missile strike.
Going underground, the Marines confirm the presence of a large alien vessel. They return to the surface and succeed in calling in a guided artillery strike using laser designators. However, the command center remains intact and rises from the ground. The Marines repel alien forces as more artillery shells are launched at the hovering command center, and eventually they destroy it. This disables the alien aircraft in the area, forcing the alien ground forces to retreat.
Soon after, the team is extracted to a temporary base in the Mojave Desert, where they are greeted as heroes for their outstanding bravery. All other cities under attack now plan to emulate their strategy, destroying the alien command center in each city. More forces are being sent to Los Angeles to finish off the aliens there. Despite orders to rest, Nantz and the platoon instead rejoin the fight. (Source: Wikipedia)

Starring: Adam Sandler, Joey Lauren Adams, Jon Stewart, Cole Sprouse, Dylan Sprouse
Directed by: Dennis Dugan
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Big Daddy could be considered the first good romantic comedy/drama film for Adam Sandler. After playing a few goofy films like Billy Madison, Happy Guilmore (which I DO love), The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, etc., Big Daddy was such a great romantic and sentimental comedy film.
I know Adam Sandler can be one of those likable actors or not. There's no grey lines with him. All the people I know either like him or not. But most of the people that have watched the film, totally loved it, no matter if they didn't like Adam Sandler. If you haven't watched the film yet, Big Daddy is a fresh and charming film that should be highly considered to be watched.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The good and fun sentimental father-son relationship shown between Adam & Cole
2. I really enjoyed the cast and script, it had the perfect combination
3. It had an amazing soundtrack selection
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Nothing at all. It was a really nice and entertaining film
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

I should start saying that I'm a huge fan of this great action franchise. I've had the chance to watch every single one of these three films many, many times before, but I watched them as individual films. I never had a chance to watch them all together, as just one big single story. So, trying to enjoy that experience, we decided to have a Bourne week. The great thing about having a Bourne week was that it gave us a different perspective of the story about Jason Bourne and all the journey trying to find the truth about his past.
What love the most of Jason Bourne is the ability and sharpness he shows every time he needs to take a decision and make a move. He barely thinks and uses every single resource found on his way. He's highly trained and able to manage almost any situation. That makes the difference in this story. That's exactly what the director Paul Greengrass and all the production team wanted to offer, reinforce those important details in every single action and decision, making him so unpredictable and extremely dangerous.
Another great thing about the trilogy and story is the ability to move the story and characters from one city and country to another in a matter of just hours, giving the fans the opportunity of experiencing how complex can be the life of a government agent working on a secret mission.
The best of all is that we can get more and more involved in the story with every single new sequel and most important, notice the improvement on the scripts, role performances and situations, making the films and franchise more likable.
By the time I'm writing this review, the good news is that there have been some discussions and conversations about a possible sequel... or prequel. The bad news is that the director Paul Greengrass, involved in two films of the Bourne Trilogy has taken a step back and walked away from these first discussions and, Matt Damon has said that he won't play on a new Bourne sequel/prequel if he's not directed by the same director. So, we'll have to wait and see how these discussions and decisions cross the end line. For all those great lovers of this franchise, I hope it brings back to the big screen Matt Damon, the same director and production team, supported on a strong and amazing script.
We'll see. In the mean time, f you haven't had he chance to watch the trilogy, you must take some time and watch it all! You won't regret it. I personally recommend it :)
What did I like from these movies?
1. The direction and production was simply amazing, especially on the third film. As said before, they got better and better in every single film
2. The cast was perfect. Great selection for this trilogy
3. Matt Damon played such an amazing role in these three movies. He was able to "be" Jason Bourne and deliver the story, experience and journey lived trying to find the truth about his past
What did I dislike from these movies?
1. Nothing at all! Well, I just don't like that they're taking too long to bring a new sequel or prequel of this amazing franchise

The Bourne Identity
Synopsis: The spy thriller opens as an amnesiac is rescued at sea by the crew of an Italian fishing boat. Nearly dead, he carries nothing but the bullets in his back and the bank account number embedded in his hip. Although completely without identity or background, he possesses an array of extraordinary talents in fighting, linguistics and self-defense that speak of a dangerous past. In the present he is disoriented and wary as he is propelled into an urgent search to discover who he is and why his life has taken a perilous turn. A Zurich safe deposit box yields an assortment of passports, a hefty load of cash, an automatic weapon and a name--Jason Bourne--with a Paris address. What it means remains a mystery, but Bourne quickly realizes that although he knows no one, there are people who recognize him--and do not wish him well. When he meets Marie Kreutz, a hard-luck German-born wanderer, he makes a desperate pitch--$10,000 for a ride to Paris. Despite her reservations, Marie takes the cash and begins a journey with Bourne that changes her life forever. The trail of Jason Bourne's past snakes from Europe to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where Treadstone, a clandestine operation is based. As Bourne and Marie struggle to stay below the radar in France, all of the stealthy muscle of Treadstone is focused on tracking them and neutralizing Bourne as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Bourne Supremacy
Synopsis: Two years ago, Jason Bourne thought he had walked away from his past. But now, his past is about to return. Bourne and Marie have maintained their anonymous, underground existence at the cost of permanence. Fueled by splintered nightmares and haunted by the past he cannot remember, Bourne moves Marie from city to city, trying to remain one step ahead of the threat implicit in every unexplained stranger's glance, every "wrong number" phone call--that at any second, without any warning, he might get pulled back into the world he hopes he left behind. When an operative appears in the sleepy village that has been their latest home, Bourne and Marie collapse their lives and head out. His past at the door, their only chance now is to run. But once a line is crossed and the stakes in a new global game of cat-and-mouse are raised, the Jason Bourne created by Treadstone--the covert, now dismantled operation that spawned cold-blooded, professional assassins--returns. Two years ago, Bourne walked away from the deadly world that created him with a promise of retaliation should anyone attempt contact. Now that that world has indeed come calling, Bourne intends to keep his word. They should have left him alone.

Synopsis: A rogue detective is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs -- while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves. Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience.
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Xzibit , Fairuza Balk
Directed by: Werner Herzog
U.S. Rating: R
Definitely a really good role performance played by Nicolas Cage, but not his best one, at all. Many, many reviews and critics out there say that it's one of the best (if not the best!) roles played by Nicolas Cage.
Bad Lieutenant is a remake of the original one from 1992, starring Harvey Keitel. This time, Nicolas Cage is a cop in New Orleands, right after the devastation, chaos and desolation created by the Hurricane Katrina. He's good at his job, he loves what he does. But when this devotion and hard work is mixed with a potential weakness... drugs, we all know the end of the story. On this story, Terence McDonagh is trying to manage his chronic back pain and long hours at work with pain killers and drugs. Suddenly, drugs start replacing these pain killers and his addiction lead him from one decision and action to another one until he finds himself involved in some dangerous situations. He has to take important and smart decisions against an important drug dealer, ruthless shark loaners, important business men and keep/clean his public image.
A dark drama/thriller with a really good performance played by Nicolas Cage, supported by an unique cast. If you're a Nicolas Cage's films fan, then you must watch this film.
What did I like from this movie?
1. It's a dark thriller, but really well played by the lead role and the rest of the cast involved
2. I totally laughed with the non-sense scene with the iguanas! So funny!
3. I enjoyed the end, even though he sucked and kept being corrupted in some (or most of the) ways, at least he took all the bad guys down
4. Terence McDonagh's love for his gun! hehehe... and the way he walked caused by his back pain
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. There were some weird and non-sense situations, but at least were funny
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Synopsis: Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Danny Archer, a South African mercenary, and Solomon Vandy, a Mende fisherman are joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon--who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields--has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen, an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory--a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou, Jennifer Connelly, Arnold Vosloo, Michael Sheen
Directed by: Edward Zwick
U.S. Rating: R
Based on a cruel reality, Blood Diamond brought to the big screen the drama and conflict of African diamonds to the public eye.
The plot relates the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a South African mercenary who tries to survive and collect enough money smuggling conflict diamonds from Sierra Leona and leave the continent forever. He's about to reach his dream when he finds Solomon Vandy, (Djimon Hounsou) a humble family man who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields controlled by the guerrilla. Salomon finds an extremely rare pink diamond stone worth of millions of dollars, and with the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), a risky journalist who's in Sierra Leona trying to find the truth of these conflict diamonds and how they're being smuggled and sold to the world. While Maddy meets Danny and tries to get valuable information from him, Danny tries to get help from Maddy to use her influence as journalist finding the refugee camp where Salomon's family is located, Salomon will also try to use Danny to find his son who was captured by the guerrilla and forced to commit horrible things, being just a kid. And obviously, Danny will use Salomon and Maddy with the ultimate goal... find the stone and leave the continent forever.
A vicious circle of personal interests that will bring one of the best drama/thriller films watched within the last few years. With such a strong plot, an amazing cast and great location/direction, Blood Diamond is one of those cruel... yes, but amazing films loaded with an unique drama and great end.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou played extraordinary roles, giving an extra value to the story and film.
What did I like from this movie?
1. I really enjoyed the story. It was simple but strong, being able to show the audience the terrible situation behind these conflict diamonds
2. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou played amazing roles. The chemistry among them was amazing, and their individual performances were unique
3. The action involved was cruel but amazing!
4. Good and thoughtful end

Synopsis: Thirty-something Captain Sam Cahill and his younger brother Tommy Cahill, are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace, with whom he has two young daughters. Tommy, his charismatic younger brother, is a drifter just out of jail who's always gotten by on wit and charm. He slides easily into his role as family provocateur on his first night out of prison, at Sam's farewell dinner with their parents, Elsie and Hank Cahill, a retired Marine. Shipped out to Afghanistan, Sam is presumed dead when his Black Hawk helicopter is shot down in the mountains. At home in suburbia, the Cahill family suddenly faces a shocking void, and Tommy tries to fill in for his brother by assuming newfound responsibility for himself, Grace, and the children.
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Sam Shepard, Mare Winningham
Directed by: Jim Sheridan
U.S. Rating: R
I could define Brothers as a film of few meaningful drama moments and events. The plot is about the drama, relationship and situations lived by Grace Cahill (Natalie Portman), Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire), when Captain Sam Cahill is sent to Afghanistan and he's presumed dead after the Black Hawk he was flying in was shot down in the middle of the Afghan dessert. Tommy Cahill, Sam's brother has got out of jail and he's tried to take care of his sister in law, Grace, and his two little nieces. Tommy starts falling in love with Grace, they try to draw a line of respect and distance, due to the recent events and feelings involved in it. When Sam is found by soldiers during an assault to one of the rebels' secret caves, Sam is sent back home. Sam gets home with more than his luggage, he's back with a series of deep and hurtful feelings, images and experiences lived during his time being captive. Soon, he lets all these emotions, feelings and horrible experiences to come out and affect his life and relation with his wife, daughters, brother and family.
A great cast selected for this film, even though, I wasn't pleased with Tobey Maguire's performance. Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal were great on their roles, but Tobey Maguire was a bit over the top on some of his scenes.
What did I like from this movie?
1. A good drama involved in the plot
2. great roles played by the cast
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. The movie offers good "drama moments". I wouldn't say it is a good drama film as a whole
2. Tobey Maguire's performance was over the top on his emotions and drama on a few scenes

Synopsis: Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, is taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.
Starring: Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Lily Collins, Ray McKinnon
Directed by: John Lee Hancock
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Definitely one of the best films watched in 2009. Sandra Bullock played one of her best roles in her professional career, a role worth of a Golden Globe or/and Oscar Award. The Blind Side is based on a true story, supported with such an amazing cast and a pretty strong plot. The film is an inspirational story about the life of Michael Oher, an offensive lineman who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. Being for 17 years in foster care with many different foster parents, Michael runs away from his latest foster home. One of his foster parents enrolls him in a Christian School and convinces his coach that he's a great sport guy and would help him on the School football team. Few days later, Michael meets Sean and they immediately become good friends. After a cultural activity after school, Sean's mother, Leigh Anne Tuohy - an important interior designer - sees Michael walking alone on the street in the middle of a rainy night and decides to take him home. After few events, Leigh Anne starts helping Michael to reach his potential and getting him more and more involved with her family. Michael starts achieving some success on school and the field, having some impressive moments in games that caught the attention of several coaches across the country. The film ends with some scenes of the real Michael Oher and his adopted family, at the 2009 NFL draft, showing Michael Oher being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.
A truly inspiring and touching film with such an amazing role performance played by Sandra Bullock. Totally recommended!
What did I like from this movie?
1. Even though, Sandra Bullock played such an amazing role, we can't deny that Quinton Aaron played also a great role as Michael Oher
2. The little kid, Jae Head was impressively funny and played such an amazing role!
3. The plot was really great and enjoyable. Even though it was a drama, it had some comedy lines that made it even more entertaining

I know Christmas is over, but I couldn't let this movie off my daily reviews. I have just a very few list of favorite Christmas movies, and to be honest, this one is at the top of my list. Bad Santa is one of the darkest comedy movies I've ever watched and I loved it! Bad Santa is not that kind of Christmas movies that you'd love to watch to get in the mood and feel the Christmas spirit... far from that! It is as crude, offensive, nasty and profane as it can be! Billy Bob Thornton plays the lead role as the helpless drunk Santa who works in big department stores with his midget partner as part of their alibi to steal the money kept in the stores' safe. While working on one of these stores, Bad Santa (Billy Bob) meets "The Kid" (Brett Kelly), one of the sweetest fat kids ever, who believes in Santa and wants to be his friend. The kid gets involved in Santa's personal messy life and Santa becomes his protector and best friend.
Definitely one of my top favorite comedy movies! It is one of my "must watch" every single Christmas season. I laughed out loud all movie (literally!). Totally recommended!
What did I like from this movie?
1. Billy Bob Thornton's role was fabulous!
2. Such an amazingly funny dark comedy
3. The fat kid plays such a great role also, he's able to break the heart of the viewers!
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Absolutely nothing! (Well... the trailer doesn't show how funny this film is! This is one of those few cases when the trailer can't sell the film)
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

One of the great summer action movies from the 90's. Some people consider it a great action movie, other people consider the plot a little bit slow, lack of action and released in a time when similar plots were released just weeks before. No matter the critics, I personlly believe that Blown Away is a great thriller with some action/suspense material, supported by such a great cast. Tommy Lee Jones, one of my top Hollywood actors of all times plays as the villain in this plot, the bomber who escaped from prison in Ireland and came to America to cause chaos among the city of Boston and keep in suspense the bomb squad led by Jeff Bridges. A great action/suspense film to watch any good evening at home.
What did I like from this movie?
1. No matter the level of action scenes people expect from this movie, I personally believe that one of the great things about this film is the suspense and action scenes offered throughout the whole plot
2. Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones roles were amazingly played in this movie
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Maybe a little bit more action, as everyone else were expecting
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

U.S. Rating: R

Synopsis: Stranded in 1955, Marty must now travel to 1885 to rescue Doc Brown. Surviving Indian attacks and unfriendly townsfolk, its up to Marty to grab the love-struck Doc, leave the wild west and get back to the future.
Starring: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Mary Steenburgen, Thomas F. Wilson, Lea Thompson
Directed by: Robert Zemeckis, Max Kleven
U.S. Rating: PG
Once again, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd bring the perfect combination. Lloyd's weirdness and Fox's personality bring a great entertainment for the third sequel of this successful franchise. Better than the second one, but not as good as the first one. I'm glad they haven't gone for a fourth sequel, since it would be such a complicated plot!
What did I like from this movie?
1. The script was better and more entertaining than the previous sequel. New characters involved in the story, but Zemeckis kept the original idea in this sequel
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Nothing. I believe that this franchise is unique in its kind!

Great sequel, even though, not as good as the first one... or the third one. No matter what, ack to The Future 2 was such an amazing movie in the late 80's. Honored with an Oscar nomination for its visual effects, Back to The Future 2 offered more than just a entertaining plot. One of the best franchises of all time!
What did I like from this movie?
1. Definitely, the skates!
2. It was a more complicated script, but it was still easy to follow
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. It was a really entertaining movie, I totally enjoyed it
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Synopsis: Lieutenant Chris Burnett is a top naval aviator who is frustrated that fragile geo-politics have kept him from what he knows best: flying F/A-18 Superhornet jets into combat. "We're watching, not fighting," he tells Admiral Reigart, who thinks Burnett hasn't really learned what it means to be a soldier. During a routine reconnaissance mission, Burnett photographs something no one was meant to see and is shot down. Trapped behind enemy lines, Burnett struggles to survive the relentless pursuit of a ruthless secret police enforcer, a deadly tracker and countless hostile troops. With time running out, Reigart makes the wrenching decision to set aside the rules of the tightly-controlled world in which he operates and risk his career to launch a renegade rescue mission to save the life of one solider.
Starring: Owen Wilson, Gene Hackman, Gabriel Macht, Charles Malik Whitfield, Joaquim De Almeida
Directed by: John Moore, Steve M. Davison
U.S. Rating: PG-13
No matter what critics might say about this film, I personally believe that Behind Enemy Lines is such a great action movie. Unlikely other roles, Owen Wilson plays the role of the US F-15 combat pilot in Europe, while the U.S. was playing the role of observant in the peace negotiation process during the war in Bosnia. Gene Hackman's supporting role was a little bit over dramatic, but played with such great professionalism, as Hackman only knows how to play his roles. Owen Wilson, as the combat pilot is being shot and left behind enemy lines in a pretty hostile area and is forced to use all his training and senses to keep himself alive and safe from a complete army who's trying to chase him before he crosses the border and brings critical information captured in this war area. An intense war plot worth to watch. Totally recommended.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The scenes when they're flying the F-15 and the're trying to avoid the two missiles that have been shot after crossing the neutral area
2. The whole journey that he has to go through trying to keep himself safe and alive
3. The scenes when he gets to the town with the guys who gave him a lift and the army arrives with their tanks shooting against the buildings
4. The last scene when he's being rescued, good action scenes
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Gene Hackman's performance look a little bit over dramatic, especially when he's giving some of those Hollywood patriotic images
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Synopsis: When cowboy Beau and his friend Virgil take the bus from Montana to Phoenix, Arizona to participate in the rodeo, Beau is also hoping to find his "angel". There, virginal Beau falls in love with cafe singer "hillbilly" Chérie performing "That Old Black Magic" and plans to take her back to Montana. The next day, he intends to marry her after the rodeo, but she escapes. She wants to go Hollywood, where she hopes to be discovered. But Beau tracks her down, and forces her on the bus back to Montana. On the way, they stop at Grace's Diner. The road ahead is blocked by snow, and by now all have learned that Beau is kidnapping and bullying the girl. The men subdue Beau until he promises to leave Chérie alone. Later, the road is cleared, and contrite Beau, after getting beaten in a scuffle with the bus driver the previous night, apologizes for his rude behavior and is ready to depart without her. Chérie forgives him, and discovering his nicer side, decides on her own to go with him.
Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray, Arthur O'Connell, Betty Field
Directed by: Joshua Logan
U.S. Rating: Not Rated
This is not a Marilyn Monroe movie that you want to watch. I didn't expect this kind of a movie to have Marilyn Monroe cast in it. The fact is that this movie is about abuse. And it isn't a movie where the ending is good (e.g. she gets away from the abuse). It ends where Cherie (Marilyn's character) feels sorry for the guy that has kidnapped her and ends up staying with him in the end. Men may have enjoyed this movie back in 1956 because he abuses her and still gets her in the end...but I couldn't imagine too many people appreciating this movie now days.
What did I like from this movie?
1. I don't blame Marilyn for the plot of this movie. She still did a wonderful acting job and was as sexy as ever. If all you want to do is see a sexy Marilyn Monroe then this movie is still worth your time
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Obviously I didn't care at all for the plot. It would have been alright if she had left him when she had the chance but the fact that she stays with him makes the ending just not "right."
I would rate this movie with a 1/5

Synopsis: A mysterious drifter who becomes ensnared in the seedy world of underground street fighting. In the back alleys of Los Angeles, life is cheap and to go against the grain is to take on the most powerful criminal organization on the West Coast.
Starring: Michael Jai White, Nona Gaye, Kevin Phillips, Dick Anthony Williams, Larnell Stovall

Blood and Bone makes honor to its name. There are some bloddy scenes, some great fight sequences and an interesting plot. Blood and Bone is the story about Bone, a mysterious difter that has been able to get involved in the world of underground street fighting. His vision: Keep the promise made to his cell companion at the moment of his death, being attacked by other cell prisoners. The promise? Protect his wife and son. The movie is focused on a series of fights and situations that will lead hm to accomplish his promise.
What did I like from this movie?
1. I thought it would be a boring plot, since I didn't understand the reason of his mysterious appearance and reason in these street fighting. After watching part of the movie, it actually got to the point when we could tide the knots and know the reasons
2. Some really cool fighting scenes! I personally didn't know that Michael Jai White was such a good fighter! I've watched him in some other movies, but never to the fighting level as shown in this movie. He should be considered for other and better action movies
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Too bloody at the beginning
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

If you know someone out there that doesn't like Back to the Future, that someone won't like any movie at all! Back to the Future is one of the most likable and enjoyable movies of all time. A classic movie that offers you a romantic comedy with such an amazing cast and a very entertaining plot. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd were the perfect match for this successful franchise that 20 years later is still being remembered as one of the best movies ever. Back to the Future offers an unusual time travel adventure with action, comedy, romance... all inclusive to help you enjoy every single minute of it. This movie launched to the stars Michael J Fox's career, and always will be remembered as the really cool and friendly guy that traveled to the past and future to help his parents, himself and his family and friends to keep the course of their lives, offering hilarious and entertaining situations. Christopher Lloyd plays the role of "Doc" (Dr. Emmett L. Brown), the psychotic scientist that builds a time machine capable to transport people from present to past or future and come back to present time.
A classic that no matter how old it gets and how many times I've watched it. I always enjoy it like it was the first time. 100% recommended.
What did I like from this movie?
1. I personally enjoyed the scenes when he's trying to escape from Biff and his friends with the skate
2. The scene at the party, especially when Marty takes the guitar and starts playing with the band. Really funny when he finishes playing solo, everyone is staring at him and he says I guess you're not ready for this, but your children are gonna love it
3. definitely, Doc is the weirdest and funniest character in this plot
4. For 1985, the effects were pretty good!

He enlists the help of his bowling buddy, Walter, a gun-toting Jewish-convert with anger issues. Deception leads to more trouble, and it soon seems that everyone from porn empire tycoons to nihilists want something from The Dude.
Starring: Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi

This is one of those movies that you either love or hate. I don't think there is an in between for this movie. I personally didn't like it. There were definitely some funny parts and the story line was something to figure out, but there were interludes of absolute nonsense. That mixed with psycho aggression and the constant use of profanity really just made the movie weird. I'm usually a fan for the out-of-the-ordinary but "The Big Lebowski" wasn't one I appreciated. Definitely not the worst movie I've ever seen, though.
What did I like from this movie?
1. I liked the part where the guys break into Dude's apartment and he says, "Hey, man, this is a private residence." It's funny because he doesn't realize they are breaking all of his stuff on purpose
2. All the abuse his car goes through is pretty funny
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. The profanity is abundant
2. The needless psychotic interludes seemed more like a total waste of time and efforts
I would rate this movie with a 2/5

Directed by: Michael Caton-Jones
U.S. Rating: R
According with most of the critics and important reviews made about this movie, it is considered one of the worst movies of all times, and I believe it. This sequel is another of those ones we should label as a big NO-NO! All of us know that Basic Instinct was such a big success in the 90's. That was exactly the movie that launched Sharon Stone's movie career to the stars, thanks to the famous scene when she crosses her legs in the interrogation room ;) Well, this new sequel brings a plot that I could consider a remake of the first plot. Nothing new, poorly directed, with a lousy story that has nothing to hide, nothing left to imagination, so predictable.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Sharon Stone :) The older she gets, the more beautiful she looks
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. Definitely a really bad choice for Sharon Stone. This kind of scripts won't help her to arise from the ashes and be the star that we knew in the 90's
2. The plot was so predictable and boring
I would rate this movie with a 1/5
