Synopsis: The mysterious murder of a US senator bearing the distinctive trademark of the legendary Soviet assassin "Cassius," forces Paul Shepherdson, a retired CIA operative, to team with rookie FBI agent, Ben Geary, to solve the crime. Having spent his career chasing Cassius, Shepherdson is convinced his nemesis is long dead, but is pushed to take on the case by his former supervisor, Tom Highland. Meanwhile, Agent Geary, who wrote his Master's thesis on Shepherdson's pursuit of the Soviet killer, is certain that Cassius has resurfaced. As Shepherdson and Geary work their way through crimes both past and present, they discover that Cassius may not be the person they always thought him to be, forcing both to re-examine everything and everyone around them.

It's been a while since I watched a good film with Richard Gere, in fact, it's been a while since I watch A film with Richard Gere. The waiting was worth, since The Double showed why Richard Gere is one of the strong and most prestigious actors in Hollywood.
The Double is one of those weird films that you think you know what to expect, since the trailer shows you basically "everything". Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere), a retired CIA operative works with a rookie FBI agent (Topher Grace) to solve a crime that has been commited by a legendary Soviet assassin. At least, that's what the CIA and the FBI think, but Paul believes they're incorrect, since he believes "Cassius", the legendary Soviet assassin is dead. The plot shows clearly that Richarg Gere is "Cassius" and he's been playing for both sides, as a "Double". Agent Geary has been studying "Cassius" throughout his all young career. He knows him, he knows everything about him, even though, not enough to notice that the person he's been obsessed, is his very own senior companion in this case. Paul (Cassius) feels some simpathy for Geary and tries to keep him away from the case and Cassius, since he knows that if he finds the real Cassius, he won't have any other option but killing him. While Geary gets closer to Cassius, he tries to end his personal mission, a mission that Geary will find with (ironically) Cassius' help. They will finally bring the whole Soviet assassins operation to the end, but everything will turn in a very unexpected way for Cassius and the audience
I think that more than the plot, the film was good because of the cast performace. Having Martin Sheen and Topher Grace working along with Richard Gere, made the film so worth and enjoyable to watch. It is definitely a must-watch thriller at home, a great film for an entertaining weekend at home.
I would rate this movie with a 3.5/5

Tower Heist it's like a light, but extremely smart and funny version of Ocean's Eleven. With such a very unorthodox cast, a clever fresh plot and amazing acting performances, the film was ne of the best comedies in 2011.
I think there were at least, a couple of great comebacks on this film. The first and most important one: Eddie Murphy. His comeback couldn't be better, playing the hilarious role of a professional street hustler responsible of teaching the bad habits and techniques to the rest of the amateur team, with such a great and smart sense of humor in this adult comedy. Matthew Broderick had the other great comeback, playing a role of a very insecure man... a looser, but an extremely smart man in finances.
Ben Stiler played also a great and enjoyable role, this time as a smart and professional manager of "The Tower" the most prestigious, luxurious and well-secured residential buildings in New York City. It was good to see Ben Stiller playing a different role this time, as a self-confident professional man, and not the usual insecure and awkward man we've seen in other previous and recent roles.
Tower Heist is the bright and funny side of a smart heist performed by a bunch of amateurs who've never robbed anything in the past, just with the vision and goal of recovering their own money earned with years of honest hard work.
So, what's Tower Heist about? Ben Stiller is Josh Kovacs, the building manager of The Tower, a high-rise luxury apartment complex on Central Park West in New York City whose employees include concierge Charlie, his brother in law; Enrique, an elevator operator; Lester, the doorman nearing retirement; Odessa, a Jamaican maid; and Miss Iovenko, who furtively studies for her bar exam at work.
One morning Josh sees what appears to be a kidnapping of an important tenant, the wealthy businessman Arthur Shaw. When Josh tries to chase the van with the kidnapped tenant and almost catches the van, he is stopped by FBI agent Claire Denham. Denham explains him that Shaw wasn't being kidnapped, he was attempting to flee arrest, accused of running a Ponzi scheme.
Josh is in shock and has to face an important moment, telling the Tower staff about Shaw's arrest and explain them that he gave Shaw their pension fund to invest, and their money is gone. The staff feels the presure of loosing all their money and years o hard work, and even Lester attempted suicide after losing everything he had.
Josh meets FBI Detective Denham and she says Shaw must have had a cash safety net and suggests in jest that he find and steal it. Josh gathers Charlie, Enrique, and former Tower tenant Mr. Fitzhugh to draw up a plan to steal Shaw's money.
Charlie brings up the obvious drawback that they are not thieves, but that doesn't stop Josh. He decides to enlists his neighbor, a petty criminal named Slide. Slide trains the team and tries to get everything in order for the heist, trying to open the safe and steal the 20 million dollars from it.
During the Thanksgiving Parade, the team reaches Shaw's apartment, breaks down a false wall and finds Shaw's safe behind it; Odessa opens the safe but finds it empty. Now, they will have to find where the money is saved and make the important changes on their original plan on the move, to get their money and savings back.
It is actually a fresh and smart comedy with a great plot and a great chemistry among all the performers. The end just made me laugh really hard, since it was totally unexpected, and the way they had to split their part was... unique!
Totally recommended!

I was really excited to see The Vow. I was hoping it would be really romantic and fun at the same time. It has been awhile we've had a good rom com. Well, this isn't it. I wanted to like it. I really did. I kept pulling for it and thinking that maybe it would get batter after this scene or that one. Nope. I think Channing Tatum is hot. Until he opens his mouth. He mumbles. Really bad. In every single movie he's made. OPEN YOUR MOUTH! Tatum and Adams gave a lack luster performance. The name of the movie even got me, The Vow. Meaning, through all the struggles, they had a Vow to keep. Well, they didn't. I don't want to give away anything, but I'm going to. They get divorced! The ending shows them a yr later getting coffee. What's romantic about that?! I heard the books--based of real life events--is amazing. I think the book would tell the true story and do it better than Tatum or Adams ever could. I so wanted to like this movie. I really wish I did, but I didn't. Bleh.

Starring: Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Anthony Mackie, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Titus Welliver

U.S. Rating: PG-13
Man On A Ledge was one of those great thrillers that left me with a sour taste on my mouth at the end of the film. It was one of those really entertaining thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the 90 minutes, and at the end you ask yourself... Hey! What the heck did just happen?! Yes, but maybe that was just my personal experience.
Man On A Ledge gathered such a great cast, a pretty interesting "heist/thriller" plot, a decent direction, but a horrible ending.
Sam Worthington plays the role of Nick Cassidy, an ex-policeman arrested and convicted to 25 years in prison for stealing a $40 million diamond from businessman David Englander (Ed Harris). Nick Cassidy is innocent, and will do anything to prove it. While being in jail, he's informed that his father has died and attends his funeral while being in custody. After a confusing situation with his younger brother and the police, Nick neutralizes the custody agents and escapes.
Later on, he checks in at the Roosevelt Hotel under the false name of Walker, goes to his hotel room at the top floor, and climbs on the ledge, apparently ready to commit suicide. The crowd below sees him and calls the police. After isolating the area, Agent Jack Dougherty (Edward Burns) tries to talk with Nick. However, he says he will only speak to negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks), who is on a leave of absence after failing to convince a depressed policeman not to jump from the Brooklyn Bridge a month earlier. Nick knows her work and determination, and he's decided to use her on his plan.
Lydia and Jack have no idea of who Nick (alias Mr. Walker) is, his past or something that could lead them to the real reason of his dangerous decision of possibly jump and take his life. Lydia is able to get Nick's fingertips. They will soon discover that Nick is an ex-policeman who was arrested for the well-known case of stealing a $40 million diamond from businessman David Englander. Nick, however, constantly says he is innocent and tries to convince Lydia that Englander used to employ cops to protect his multi-floor jewelry business. He told her that one day, while Nick was on duty, he was knocked unconscious by two men in ski masks and awakened to find out Englander had framed him for stealing the diamond in order to get the insurance money, as he had lost his fortune during the stock market crisis.
Everyone thinks that Nick is playing them just to get attention, but the truth is that Nick is merely distracting them while his brother Joey and Joey's girlfriend Angie break into Englander's upper floor jewelry vault in the building across the street to steal the diamond and prove Nick's innocence.
Agents Dante Marcus and Mike Ackerman are involved with David Englander, providing him protection. Lydia is informed about this situation and knows that Nick is in danger if he's finally captured. Nick and his brother are caught and taken to the roof of Englander's building to face Englander. Englander recovers the diamond previously stoled by his brother and leaves the scene. Lydia save them and in a very risky move, Nick gets to Englander, who has already left the building. At the end, Nick is able to demonstrate he is innocent, but as said before, after going through a very entertaining and edgy thriller with ups and downs throughout the whole film, they just end it with a pretty lame end.
I must say that I'm very pleased with Elizabeth Bank's performance. She's one of those actresses that has been improving her presence and acting performance, getting important roles in relevant films. Sam Worthington also played a pretty decent role in this film, making a great combination.
I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Synopsis: A surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century's most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

U.S. Rating: PG-13
Another superb, amazing, supreme performance by Meryl Streep. As said in my previous post about my top ten favorite Meryl Streep's films, I do consider her THE best actress in the world, no doubt about it. She totally demonstrated her talent... Once again... on this film.
I'd like to write this review from two different perspectives. First, about the film. Even though the film is a biopic based on the life of the UK Prime Minister, a pretty interesting and fascinating story of the first woman ever to become the UK Prime Minister, especially during a pretty intense and dangerous time in the world, facing some important and sensitive executive decisions. The only problem is that, for my personal taste, the film failed projecting those important events and her miningful role in UK (and the world) history. Director Phyllida Lloyd focused more on her personal life and dilemas, jumping constantly back and forth between past and present making it slow, boring and hard to follow at some times.
In the other hand, what made the film appealed to the viewers (especially for me) was Meryl Streep's spotless performance. Her appearance, her voice, her interpretation of Margaret Thatcher was simply amazing! She wasn't representing her on her role, she WAS Margaret Thatcher. It would a huge surprise for me if she doesn't get the Oscar for best actress after playing this amazing role.
If I had to rate the film for its all, I would say it didn't convince me at all, I'd give it a 2.5/5 but, If I'd rate it by Meryl Streep's performance and the great supporting cast working on the film, I'd give it 5/5.
So, at the end, I'd rate this movie with a 3/5

Synopsis: In the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, Charlie Kenton is a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

One of the great films released in 2011 was Real Steel. Probably it wasn't one of the most remarkable ones, but it was actually pretty good and entertaining. The interesting thing about this film is that it brings such a unique plot, but the main story is not about the whole boxing robots, far from it, but the special relationship between a dad and his little son.
It is not a surprise that Hugh Jackman delivered such a great performance, but this film was definitely all about Dakota Goyo, the little boy playing Hugh's on in this film. The charisma shown by this little guy made the whole film deserved to watch.
Real Steel is focused in year 2020. Humans have been replaced by robots in boxing. Charlie Kenton is a former boxer who owns such a robot, Ambush, competing in unsanctioned matches and in exhibitions with it. At a rural fair, Ambush is destroyed by Black Thunder, a bull belonging to promoter Ricky. Having made a bet that Ambush would win, Charlie now owes Ricky $20,000, which he doesn't pay before leaving.
Charlie is informed his ex-girlfriend has died, and that he must attend a hearing to decide the fate of his preteen son Max. Max's wealthy aunt Debra and uncle Marvin want full custody, which Charlie gives them in exchange for $100,000, half in advance, on the condition that Charlie take care of Max for three months while the couple are away on a second honeymoon.
Charlie and Max meet with Charlie's childhood friend Bailey Tallet, who runs the boxing gym of her deceased father, Charlie's old coach. There, Charlie buys a secondhand World Robot Boxing league (WRB) robot, the once-famous Noisy Boy, and arranges for it to fight the illegal circuit's champion, Midas, at a venue belonging to his friend Finn. Partly due to both his inexperience with Noisy Boy's combinations and his overconfidence, Charlie ends up losing control of Noisy Boy and Midas destroys it.
Charlie breaks into a junkyard with Max to steal scraps that he can use to put a new robot together. There, Max falls over a ledge, where he is saved from doom by getting snagged on the arm of a buried robot. After Charlie pulls Max back up, Max digs out the entire robot, called Atom. On Max's insistence, Charlie takes it back to Bailey's gym, where they discover Atom is an obsolete Generation-2 sparring bot built in 2014. Atom has been designed to sustain massive damage, but is unable to deal much damage itself. Partly due to both Max's insistence and Charlie needing money, the duo takes Atom to fight an unsanctioned outdoor match against a robot called Metro, and Atom wins, earning back some of Charlie's money.
Max later upgrades it to take vocal commands using spare parts from Noisy Boy and Ambush and successfully convinces Charlie to train the robot. Atom's string of subsequent wins and high-speed maneuvers, which were rarely seen from a robot, attracts the attention of a promoter from WRB, who offers Atom a professional fight against a robot called Twin Cities. Charlie accepts, and Atom wins again, thanks to Charlie's boxing experience allowing him to locate and take advantage of a small tell in Twin Cities' punch. Revelling in their subsequent novelty attention, Max challenges WRB champion Zeus, designed by genius Tak Mashido (Karl Yune) and sponsored by wealthy Farra Lemcova (Olga Fonda), who before the match tried to buy the upstart Atom.
As Max and Charlie leave after the Twin Cities fight, Ricky and his men attack them, and steal their winnings. Feeling guilty, Charlie returns Max to his aunt and uncle, feeling Max will be safer with them, but Bailey convinces him that he can be a better father. Debra allows Charlie to take Max out for one last night, to the Zeus-Atom match. Zeus severely damages Atom while also getting injured, a first for Zeus. Ricky, who had bet Finn $100,000 that Atom would not last the first round, tries to slip away, but is cornered by Finn and his colleagues. In the fourth round of the five-round match, Atom's vocal receptors are damaged, and Atom must fight the last round in shadow-boxing mode, copying Charlie's moves from the aisle. Zeus, now controlled manually by a furious Mashido, expends energy on trashing the defensive Atom, running low on power and turning sluggish as a result. Atom then begins to pummel Zeus, even knocking the seemingly invincible champion down once, but not winning before the round ends. The judges declare Zeus the winner on points, but that robot's reputation is tarnished, and Atom has become famous as the "People's Champion".
I would rate this movie with a 3.5/5

Synopsis: Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, IMF operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates "Ghost Protocol". Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency's name and prevent another attack. To complicate matters further, Ethan is forced to embark on this mission with a team of fellow IMF fugitives whose personal motives he does not fully know.

Starring: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Josh Holloway, Anil Kapoor, Léa Seydoux, Tom Wilkinson
Directed by: Brad Bird
U.S. Rating: PG-13
It's clear that the "nuclear war game" is always profitable for good Hollywood action films, and Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol was not an exception. Brad Bird brought one more time the IMF team, led by Ethan Hunt, to save the world from the bad guys and prevent an imminent war between the U.S. and Russia.
It's clear that every single director has shown their own personal style on each of the four Mission Impossible films, starting with Brian De Palma nearly fifteen years ago. He tried to keep the film so close to the original TV series. John Woo and J.J. Abrams tried to give a more relevant approach to Ethan Hunt's character and mixing it with his personal life. What I liked from Brad Bird's job was the exceptional work he did trying to focus the attention to Ethan Hunt's character over any other character on the film. I honestly could say that it looked like a light version of a James Bond film, with the only difference that in this particular case, Ethan Hunt supported his mission on a team that worked synchronized under his leading plan.
Obviously, it's not a surprise that Tom Cruise excelled his acting performance. The plot of the film might not be new, but we certainly can believe that it was extremely enjoyable for the amazing cast gathered for the film, and especially, for Tom Cruise's unique performace. He clearly matched director Brad Bird's vision and personal style.
Director Brad Bird had the unique style to mix the human side of each one of the main characters involved in the team, with some thrilling action scenes, AMAZING stunts (especially the ones performed by Tom Cruise himself!) and some drama.
In Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol, a secret agent is working on an assigment in Budapest trying to get some top secret documents related with nuclear bombs activities. This secret agent is killed by a professional assassin working for another team of extremists. Ethan Hunt is in a Russian prision and he's extracted by a IMF special team. Soon, he'll get his first assignment: To get some secret information attached to the documents lost by the agent killed in Budapest. They will have to get to the secret vault in the Kremlin. Ethan Hunt and his team are framed, accused of terrorism, and the IMF is shut down. Ethan Hunt and his team will have to obtain these secret codes and information before they get to the wrong hands, but they won't count with all the logistics, assistance and protection of their agency. They will have to perform this dangerous secret mission using all they have... Their knowledge, skills and few weapons.
The end of the film shows clearly what we already knew, that we'll enjoy sometime soon a Mission Impossible 5.
I would rate this movie with a 4.5/5

I've always said that The Twilight Saga should ever be remembered for gathering the worst and most untalented cast in Hollywood. I personally believe that those films have been extremely successful for anything you might think, but the talent and acting performance of its cast.
I remember discussing this with my wife Mary, she agreed with me on most of my comments, but disagreed about Taylor Lautner. She said this guy was the best from the Twilight cast and shouldn't be considered as a low level actor as Robert Pattinson or any other guy from the Saga.
Well, after watching Abduction, I should say one more time that Taylor Lautner is just another untalented actor from the Twilight cast. If there were some doubts, his performance on this film confirmed my thoughts about his acting performance. The sad thing about this film is that it actually had a pretty interesting script for a good action movie, not mentioning the great supporting cast (Sigourney Weaver and Alfred Molina). The acting performance of all the cast involved in this film showed just a poor acting performance. Taylor Lautner's acting reactions, in several scenes were so awful and fake that it even looked ridiculous! Even Sigourney Weaver, which I consider such a high profile actress had some low moments on her acting performance on this film.
Anyway, as said before, it is a good action script that could have been extremely sucessful with a better cast, especially, a better lead role. With Taylor Lautner, it looked just like a "Bourne wanna-be" film.
The film is about the story of Nathan Harper, a teenager who lives with his parents, Kevin and Mara. He frequently consults a psychiatrist, Dr. Geraldine Bennett, about s a recurring nightmare, trying to discover the meaning of it.
During a school assignment about missing children, Nathan is partnered with his neighbor Karen Murphy. Karen finds a website that shows how the children would look like as adults, and they discover that a young boy named Steven Price would look exactly like Nathan, when Price got older. Searching in his basement, he finds the same shirt that Steven is wearing in the picture and realizes that he and Steven are the same person.
Nathan calls the website's owner, unaware that he is a Russian terrorist. The man reports back to his commander, Viktor Kozlow, who deploys two agents to Nathan's house. They attack Nathan's parents, who tell him to run before being murdered and the house is destroyed. Nathan and Karen escape and attempt to call the police, but the call is intercepted by CIA operative Frank Burton, who tells Nathan that he's in danger and sends a team to pick him up.
Before the team arrives, Dr. Bennett appears and tells Nathan that Burton can't be trusted. She reveals that Nathan's biological father, Martin, is a CIA agent who stole a list from Kozlow with the names of corrupt CIA operatives and that Kozlow created the website in order to locate Nathan and use him as leverage to force Martin to return the list. Kozlow's men appear, having intercepted Nathan's call. Bennett tells Nathan to run away and head for a safe house in Arlington, Virginia. Karen decides to go with Nathan. Before they leave, Bennett tells him he can only trust his father and a man called Paul Rasen, and blows up her car to facilitate both their escape and her own.
Nathan and Karen arrive at the safe house, where Nathan finds Martin's cellphone as well as an address and photo of his biological mother, Lorna Price. They discover that she is dead. Nathan visits her grave and notices fresh flowers, so Karen asks the caretaker about recent visitors. He reveals that the last visitor was Paul Rasen from Nebraska.
Nathan and Karen head to Nebraska on a train; Kozlow's right-hand man follows them. When Karen leaves to get food, he kidnaps her and attempts to capture Nathan, but Nathan overpowers him and throws him off the train. Karen escapes and reunites with Nathan. They leave when the train stops in response to Kozlow's agent's death. Nathan takes Kozlow's agent's phone during the fight.
Burton and his men find and convince the two that they want to help. They stop at a diner, where Burton tells Nathan about the list. Nathan checks Martin's phone and finds the list, which contains Burton's name. Before Burton can react, Kozlow's men attack the diner and kill several of Burton's men. Nathan and Karen escape while Burton and his partner kill Kozlow's men.
Kozlow's right-hand man's cellphone rings and Nathan answers it. Kozlow reveals that he has planned to kidnap Karen's parents and will kill them if Nathan doesn't give him the list. Nathan agrees, but says that he'll choose the place of the exchange. Kozlow agrees. Nathan realizes that his nightmares are due to repressed memories of Lorna being murdered by Kozlow while trying to protect him.
Nathan decides to give Kozlow the list at a Pirates baseball game, and reveals to Karen that he actually intends to kill Kozlow. Nathan receives a call from Martin, who tells him not to give Kazlow the list. Nathan ignores his advice, and tries to shoot Kozlow, who steals the gun and tries to force Nathan to give him the list. Burton's men, stationed all over the stadium, open fire as Nathan escapes, with Kozlow in pursuit.
Martin calls Nathan and tells him to lure Kozlow to an open area. Nathan does so, and, as Kozlow prepares to kill Nathan, Martin kills Kozlow with a sniper shot fired from a nearby building. Burton's men appear and capture Nathan. On their way to CIA headquarters, Burton attempts to decrypt Martin's cellphone. However, his superiors reveal that Martin has warned them that Burton would attempt this in order to remove his own name, and Burton is detained.
Martin calls Nathan one last time and apologizes for everything. He says that he'll always be watching over Nathan, who reunites with Karen and Bennett, who tells him that she has arranged for him to live with her until he graduates, at which point he can move out to attend college. Nathan thanks her and leaves with Karen for a date in the empty stadium.
Definitely a good script that could have been a great action film. Sad it lacked of good acting performance.

Synopsis: Jacob Jankowski is about to take his final exams in veterinary medicine at Cornell when his parents are killed in a car accident. He drops out and joins Benzini Brothers, a second-rate traveling circus trying to survive during the Depression.

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Christoph Waltz, Paul Schneider, Jim Norton
Directed by: Francis Lawrence
U.S. Rating: PG-13
I actually had no idea what this movie was about prior to seeing it. I hadn't read the book, and I actually hadn't even seen the full trailer. I knew who was in it and that it looked like a period film. I'd heard great things about the book so I knew I wanted to see this.
I loved it. The costumes were beautiful, the storyline was intriguing and the ending was perfect. I'd always thought Robert Pattison was somewhat of a cheesy actor, but he was actually good. He narrated the movie, and well...he just looked so good! Reese Witherspoon is a class act. She was perfect for the role. I was mesmerized during her acts in the circus. She did very well!
There was some animal cruelty shown that had me wincing, but that was the only thing I didn't like. I think this would make a perfect gift for a woman in your life! It was fantastic!
Plot:
Through the eyes of two versions of Jacob Jankowski—one in his nineties and another in his twenties—readers witness what it was like to fall in love, both with circus animals and with a strong woman. When he is a couple days short of gaining his degree in veterinary science from Cornell University, Jacob learns that his mother and father have been killed in an automobile accident. With this stroke of bad luck, Jacob has his planned future suddenly snatched away. As he stumbles through the next weeks in a daze, numbed not only by the cold winter but also by no longer having any family or home, he sees a train chug by in the night. On a sudden impulse, Jacob jumps aboard. The train is moving toward some unknown destination, and Jacob needs a change. What he is soon to discover is that he has climbed aboard a circus train. But this is no Ringling Brothers or Barnum and Bailey. This is the “Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth,” a misnomer if ever there was one.
The circus world that Jacob has just entered is filled with beguiling characters, not all of them attractive in the same way. First, there is Alan J. Bunkel, referred to as Uncle Al, the owner of the circus. Uncle Al makes no bones about it; his main focus in life is money and power. He wants his rag-tag circus to be as spectacular as the Ringling Brothers, but he is going at it in all the wrong ways. Uncle Al surrounds himself with thugs who will do anything he asks, including murder. And then there is August, the animal trainer, who becomes Jacob’s immediate boss. August has a split personality. On one hand, August takes Jacob under his wing, like a father, because he appreciates Jacob’s veterinary skills. On the other hand, August is a monster. He beats his animals and later beats his wife, Marlena, a circus performer, with whom Jacob falls in love.
These are the main characters, except for Rosie. Rosie is the one elephant in the circus, a wise old beast that only understands Polish. She is smart enough to pull up the stake that holds her in place, stick her trunk into the big container of lemonade when no one is looking, then return with her stake and pound it back into the ground. But she is not smart enough to avoid August, who beats her mercilessly, though she does, in the end, gain her revenge.
At the heart of the novel is a love story: that of a young man and a young, ill-married woman, as well as that of the two young people and the animals that surround them. In the course of telling Jacob and Marlena’s story, Gruen also exposes the relationships between the circus people, the performers and the workers, who are tied together by their need to survive during the economic hardships of the Great Depression. Most of them put up with Uncle Al’s cruelties because they have nowhere else to go. They sleep in boxcars while the train transports them across the States. They enjoy some good meals under the circus tent, but they seldom receive their promised wages; and they all know that if they come up lame or ill, they are likely to be “red-lighted”—thrown off the train in the middle of the night and left for dead.
There are many times when Jacob’s life is threatened, but readers know he survives because it is the ninety-year-old Jacob who is telling the story. Jacob in his old age provides comic relief as he grumpily moves through his nursing home, wishing he could once again taste fresh fruit or a hamburger as well as a bit of his old circus life.

I should start mentioning that having such an amazing cast, you couldn't expect anything less than a pretty entertaining and funny film.
Crazy Stupid Love is a fresh and light comedy about a forty-something man called Cal with a pretty standard and boring life. He finds his wife Emily has been cheating him with her co-worker, David. Knowing this situation affected his personal and marital life, his wife can't handle it anymore and asks him for a divorce. After moving into his own apartment, Cal begins frequenting a bar night after night, talking loudly about his divorce. There, he meets a young handsome guy called Jacob, that is a successful womanizer. Jacob noticed Cal talking about his divorce and rapidly offers him some help to get over the situation and be successful with women. He teaches him how to dress, how to talk and how to act towards women. Cal starts learning the lessons and become a different man, having more interaction and encounters with other women.
In the meantime, Jacob meets Hannah, a cute girl that refuses his flattering invitations. Later, they meet again and Jacob falls in love with Hannah.
Cal and Emily have a 13 year-old son, Robbie, who is deeply and crazy in love with his babysitter, Jessica. Jessica is a 17 year-old girl, daugther of Cal and Emily's best friends. Jessica, at the same time, is secretly in love with Cal. Cal will always encourage Robbie to go and fight, never stop chasing his dream and find his love, but Jessica always rejects him, because... She's in love with Robbie's father.
All these love situations will converge in just one single and hilarious situation that will make the whole film worth to watch and have a really good entertaining time and some hysterical laughs.
A simple but fresh plot, played by an amazing cast. A film worth to watch and enjoy on the big screen and some more times after coming on DVD. Totally recommended!
I would rate this movie with a 3.5/5

Fast and Furious, one of my top favorite action franchise of all times. I waited for months for the release of this fifth edition and the waiting was totally worth. I personally think the franchise was basically going down after the third one. It was getting old just watching over an over new editions of tunning cars and same fast races. The great thing about the fourth, and especially, this fifth edition is that Director Justin Lin decided to give the franchise a smart turn from the first three films, turning the scripts into heist plots. He confirmed after releasing this fifth edition that next one will be all about a heist situation, and we can certainly confirm this with the very last scene on this film (after credits).
I did really enjoy the film on theaters, and even more now that I got it on BluRay, having the chance to watch it again and enjoy all the extra content available on the disc.
When Dominic Toretto is sentenced to jail, Brian and Mia break Dom's custody and all of them become a group of outlaws, they escape to Brazil, hiding in the Favelas. As soon as Brian and Mia arrive to their destination, they meet with Vince. During their first night, Vince convince Brian and Mia to help him on a job, where they had to steal a few cars and drive them back to their owner, Mr. Reyes. Brian and Mia meet Vince and Dom in the train where the cars were stored but right after the job starts, things went wrong.
Soon after everyone escapes from the train, they try to identify why Mr. Reyes wanted one of the cars back. They will find that the car has a memory car hidden on the GPS system that will show all the locations and information about Mr. Reyes' illegal business.
At the same time, Special Agent Hobbs arrives to Brazil with his small team to hunt Dom and his team and bring them back to justice in the US. During the first chase, Dom, Brian and Mia escape from two different groups: Agent Hobbs and his team, and Mr. Reyes' killers. Dom ask Brian and Mia to split and gather back together in the future, but Mia refuses because she is pregnant and doesn't want them all to split, but stay together, no matter what.
Dom and Brian have a conversation about their future and the importance of their families, and they decide to come with a plan to steal all Mr. Reyes' money ($100 million). They will need a team, and that's when all the old gang gets together. They start preparing the plan and putting all the small pieces in place to create and execute the perfect heist, since all the money was saved in a safe located at the police headquarters.
They move forward on their plan, but Hobbs gets closer and closer, until their plan gets in jeopardy. Hobbs captures Dom, Brian, Vince and Mia, but while Hobbs and his team are taking them to the airport, they face and ambush and Hobbs' team is killed. Dom, Brian and Vince save Agent Hobbs and when they all get back together, they decide to finish the job. Hobbs offers to help them and they go for the money, facing one amazing and extremely entertaining race on the streets of Rio de Janeiro with Dom and Brian being chased by the police.
At the end, they get all the money, hide in a paradisiac location and plan to go for a last race.
As said before, there's a key scene after the credits that will lead us to the possible story on Fast and Furious 6. If you haven't seen it yet, you can't miss it!
p.s.: I also have to say that "The Rock" rocked in this film. He brought back the action!
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Synopsis: Cataleya is a young woman who has grown up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child. Turning herself into a professional killer and working for her uncle, she remains focused on her ultimate goal: to hunt down and get revenge on the mobster responsible for her parents' deaths.

Starring: Zoe Saldana, Jordi Molla, Lennie James, Michael Vartan and Cliff Curtis
Directed by: Oliver Megaton
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Colombiana is a thrilled action film that wastes no time on opening with an action sequence involving Cataleya (Zoe Saldana) a nine-year-old little girl who faces the killing of her parents by the hands of some dangerous Colombian gangsters. Her dad has instructed her what to do in case of this innevitable situation, delivering a micro SD memory with information related with these gangsters and their operations to the American Embassy and in exchage, get the opportunity to flight to the US. As soon as she arrives on American soil, she flees from the authorities that were in charge of her protection and travels to Chicago, to find her uncle, who is a contract killer. Once there, she asks her uncle to teach her to be a professional killer, with her only goal in mind... Revenge the death of her parents.
The rest of the film is all about Cataleya hunting every single one of the Colombian gangsters organization, chasing and hunting them in a very quiet and professional way. The only trace she leaves behind, is the drawing of a Cataleya flower in the chest of her victims.
One single mistake helps the FBI to identify her but she uses this mistake to get to the top of the organization and kill the responsibles for the murder of her parents.
Colombiana is actually a light entertaining action film if you're not looking for a brilliant plot, just some random action led by a beautiful woman. I personally believe that Zoe Saldana played a much better, stronger and interesting role in the action film, The Losers. The plot is not strong and convincing, it shows lots of gaps and nonsense situations. While I watching the film, I tried to find the answers to some key questions, but the more I looked for those answers, the more questions I found.
I personally enjoyed Director Olivier Megaton's work. He was able to deliver some really good action scenes, work with a great cast and help to balance these flaws and gaps on the poor script with the good direction and talents involved.
I would rate this movie with a 2.5/5

Synopsis: For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world -- Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before.

Starring: Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Adetokumboh M Cormack
Directed by: Jonathan Liebesman
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Battle: Los Angeles, definitely one of the most expected films in 2011. The whole production and advertising was perfect. The drama and action shown on these trailers were more than intense that I definitely wanted to watch the film really bad.
But, one thing is what you expect from a film like this, and what you really get. I've said before that there's not much room for creativity in these kind of Sci-Fi films where the human kind is being attacked and invaded by aliens. Just very few films have really impressed me, for example, the most recent one... District 9.
I remember few months ago when I had the chance to watch Skyline. A film with great CGI effects but so cheap on its content. I was extremely disappointed when I saw the film, since it didn't bring anything good other than great CGI effects. I wouldn't say it was what I got from Battle: Los Angeles. I must say it had a much better plot, DEFINITELY a much, much better cast, but there was no room for something different. It was just more of what we've got so far with these kind of films.
And when I say that it didn't bring something original or creative I mean, for example, that an extremely strong force from another planet that has been destroying the main cities around the world comes to fight with "conventional" weapons. I don't see special weapons, I see machine guns and conventional granades! There's a moment when they notice these aliens are capable to intercept their radio communications, but they destroy the mother ship planning an air strike with a radio conversation... So, there was some things that showed some lack of creativity on the script.
I must give some credits on the effects and especially, the cast. Some overrated drama and lots, lots, lots of explosions.
If you're into these kind of Sci-Fi alien invation films, it is a film that you can enjoy... Definitely 100 times better than Skyline or Monsters.
In case you want to know more details about the film, here's the complete plot: On August 11, 2011, mysterious objects thought to be meteorites crash into Earth's oceans near several major cities including Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, New Orleans,Mexico City,New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Barcelona, Hamburg, Sydney. These objects are revealed to be spacecraft containing hostile alien forces. The U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton arrive in Los Angeles to defend against alien ground forces and assist in the evacuation of civilians in preparation for a bombing campaign. Among the military's forces are Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), a 20-year veteran U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant who lost many men under his command during his last deployment in Iraq. Nantz had planned to retire, but the situation requires him to replace the platoon sergeant of a platoon from "E" Company, 2nd Battalion 5th Marines.
The Platoon Commander, 2nd Lieutenant William Martinez (Ramón Rodríguez), attends a briefing at an FOB (Forward Operating Base). The platoon's mission is to rescue civilians from an LAPD police station with a three-hour time limit before the Air Force bombs the area. They are ambushed by aliens multiple times and suffer casualties. They also encounter a group of U.S. Army soldiers from the 40th Infantry Division, including an Air Force intelligence Technical Sergeant Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez). Eventually, the combined team reaches the police station, finding five civilians inside. A helicopter arrives and attempts to evacuate some of the wounded Marines, but it is destroyed by an alien air unit upon takeoff.
The Marines commandeer a bus for evacuation. Prior to evacuation, they find a wounded alien and with the help of one of the civilians, they learn of the aliens' weaknesses and military tactics; finding that the alien infantry have a weak point in the torso, that the alien attack aircraft are remote-controlled drones and the aliens monitor and locate Earth military forces through monitoring their radio communications. The Marines speculate that there must be a central command center, and that its destruction would eliminate control of the alien drones, opening the enemy forces to air attack. On a freeway, they encounter a lone M1 Abram that is under attack and subsequently destroyed by the aliens. The bus is then attacked and the Marines begin rappelling the civilians off the side of the freeway. One of the civilians, Joe Rincon (Michael Peña), is wounded after firing on the aliens. Martinez is also wounded and sacrifices himself to destroy an enemy unit by detonating C-4 explosives inside the bus, shortly after placing Nantz in command of the platoon.
Nantz leads what remains of the platoon outside the bombing zone, and they rest at a convenience store. A news report speculates that the aliens have attacked Earth for its water supply which they use as fuel. The team waits for the bombing to begin, but nothing happens. They arrive at the FOB, only to discover that it has already been destroyed by the aliens, nullifying the airstrike. They decide to head for another extraction point, where a helicopter should be available to evacuate them. Before they embark, Rincon dies of his wounds and Corporal Lockett (whose brother died under Nantz's command) openly doubts Nantz's ability to lead. Nantz and Lockett come to terms with their guilt and anger, and the platoon reaches the extraction point using a LAV-25 and a HMMWV. As they are being evacuated, Nantz spots a large black area on the ground where electric power seems to be disabled. Nantz believes the black area to be the location of the alien command center and that it is hidden underground. Nantz and his platoon disembarks from the helicopter, planning to find the exact location of the command center so they can call in a missile strike.
Going underground, the Marines confirm the presence of a large alien vessel. They return to the surface and succeed in calling in a guided artillery strike using laser designators. However, the command center remains intact and rises from the ground. The Marines repel alien forces as more artillery shells are launched at the hovering command center, and eventually they destroy it. This disables the alien aircraft in the area, forcing the alien ground forces to retreat.
Soon after, the team is extracted to a temporary base in the Mojave Desert, where they are greeted as heroes for their outstanding bravery. All other cities under attack now plan to emulate their strategy, destroying the alien command center in each city. More forces are being sent to Los Angeles to finish off the aliens there. Despite orders to rest, Nantz and the platoon instead rejoin the fight. (Source: Wikipedia)

Synopsis: Irresponsible charmer Arthur Bach has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of lifelong nanny Hobson to keep him out of trouble. Now he faces his biggest challenge -- choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can't buy, Naomi, the only woman he has ever loved. With Naomi's inspiration and some unconventional help from Hobson, Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and finally learn what it means to become a man.

Starring: Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner, Greta Gerwig, Nick Nolte, Luis Guzman

U.S. Rating: PG-13
I must start saying that I still remember the first time I watched the original film from 1981 with Dudley Moore. It was considered one of those great comedies from the 80s, and honestly, it really was. Dudley Moore was simply hilarious playing Arthur, not mentioning the amazing cast involved in that film. I was really excited when I heard Warner Bros was working on a remake of this successful comedy, even tough, I got really cautious about how good it would be when I knew that Arthur would be played by Russell Brand. Oh boy, I wasn't wrong. I'm not a big fan of Russell Brand. I personally believe he looks and acts like a total weirdo. I think that the only decent job he's made so far was on the film Get Him To The Greek, maybe because the rest of the cast had such a strong influence on the film that he was just part of the job, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, as said before, I didn't like the idea of casting Russell Brand to play Arthur. I must admit I had a few laughts, but none of them related with Brand's performance. The rest of the cast made a great work, especially Luis Guzman and Helen Mirren. Even though it was part of "Arthur's personality and nature", Russell Brand played the role in another level of stupidity and childish personality. Yes, he played it ok, but I do believe he didn't honor Dudley Moore's work at all.
The plot brings the story of Arthur, a childish momma's boy who's drunk most of the time and spends his fortune with no limits or bounderies. While his mother tries to keep their empire on top of their expectations, Arthur's behavior is pushing investors away. That's why his mother offered him an ultimatum: Marry Susan Johnson, a talented business executive and ex-girlfriend of Arthur. They have nothing in common, but since his mother threatened him that if he didn't accept the proposal he'd loose all of his money ($950 millions), he agreed to do it. The only problem is that during that time of engagement and wedding preparation, Arthur meets a nice humble girl and falls madly in love for her.
Arthur needs to manage the situation of being engaged with someone he doesn't love and someone he met and fell in love with but can't tell the truth about it.
A really entertaining plot, but as said, it was too childish to handle. It could have been such an entertaining film to watch if maybe the lead role could have been played by someone else.
I would rate this movie with a 2/5

Synopsis: A plastic surgeon, romancing a much younger schoolteacher, enlists his loyal assistant to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant's kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

Starring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, Nick Swardson, Brooklyn Decker, Bailee Madison, Griffin Gluck, Dave Matthews, Kevin Nealon, Rachel Dratch, Allen Covert, Dan Patrick, Minka Kelly
Directed by: Dennis Dugan
U.S. Rating: PG-13
It's been a long run for Adam Sandler. I've watched almost every single one of his films and enjoyed most of his work. There has been some crappy films or roles performed in the past, but he's been one of those persistent actors and that has helped him to improve on his work and talent. I do believe his latest films have been more than entertaining. Probably because he's been working with such amazing and talented people and picked some really good plots. Just Go With It is one of those great films with a pretty entertaining and funny plot and an amazing cast.
Just Go With It brings the story of Danny Maccabee, a successful plastic surgeon in Los Angeles who suffered a traumatic and horrible marriage experience, after been heartbroken on his wedding day 20 years ago. Since that event, Danny has been using his wedding band to hook up with girls, just taking advantage of it living lie after lie.
Katherine Murphy is the only woman he trusts. She's his office manager and knows all of his secrets and women adventures. Katherine is a divorced woman, mother of two.
During a party night, Danny meets Palmer, a sexy, beautiful, young sixth grade math teacher. He hangs out with her all night (without his wedding band), having a great connection, but when they try to get each others phone number, Palmer finds Danny's wedding band in his jeans' pocket while she was looking for his business card.
When Danny believes Palmer is the perfect girl for him and that she might be the one, he tries to keep going out with her, but to do that, he needs to turn the wedding band into a fake marriage and gets Katherine and her children into the scene, making Palmer believe that Katherine and her kids are his wife and kids. That leads one lie to another one until it gets out of control.
At the end, when Danny and Palmer announce their wedding during their trip to Hawaii, Danny recognizes the amazing and unique connection he has with Katherine and that they might be more in loved with each other than they could ever imagine.
Just Go With It was just a refreshing and extremely funny film. It was not just about the funny plot, the amazing cast, but all the extra details that made the film really entertaining and easy to watch. We totally enjoyed and would recommend for anyone who enjoys this amazing cast and wants to have some good laughs.
By the way, you can say that Brooklyn Decker is a gorgeous girl, but even being that beautiful, when she's right next to Jennifer Aniston, she looks like out of Jennifer's league!
I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Synopsis: When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright, Michael Arden
Directed by: Duncan Jones
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Source Code was one of the first expected Sci-Fi films of the year in my "must-see" list. To honor the film, I must say it was entertaining, the plot was different (well, sort of) and the cast was magnific.
What is the film about? Well, Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a decorated army helicopter pilot who finds himself in a mission to locate the author of a bomb which exploded and destroyed a train headed into Chicago. Stevens is isolated inside a chamber, where Air Force officer Capt. Colleen Goodwin (Vera Farmiga) explains to Stevens through a computer screen that he is inside the Source Code, a program that allows him to take over someone's body in his or her last eight minutes of life.
Stevens' mission is to locate the bomb, discover who built it, and report back to Goodwin before the bomber can detonate a second larger bomb, a dirty nuclear device, in downtown Chicago, which could cause the deaths of millions of people. Stevens can perform different actions each time and learn from those actions. Goodwin and the Source Code's creator, Dr. Rutledge (Jeffrey Wright), tell him that the Source Code is not a simulation, but a visit into the past in the form of an alternative reality. He's told that he cannot truly alter the past in the same reality to save Christina or any of the other passengers, but that he must gather intel that can be used to alter the future and prevent a future attack.
Every time he is sent into the train he awakens as Sean Fentress, a teacher, sitting across a woman named Christina Warren (Michelle Monaghan). A series of events repeat each time with slight variations while he goes on searching for the terrorist and deepening his relationship with Christina, until the bomb that destroys the train goes off and Stevens (as Fentress) dies, sending him back to the chamber.
Stevens has no memory of how he arrived to the mission; his last memory is of flying in a recent mission in Afghanistan while taking on enemy gunfire. Confused and frustrated, Stevens wonders how he got assigned to this project. Using a cellphone, he eventually discovers that he supposedly died in the war two months ago and that his severely injured body was apparently appropriated by the Air Force and used by Rutledge to enter the Source Code.
Stevens is sent back several more times. The second time he locates the bomb in the ventilation shaft above the bathroom. Each time he learns more, both about the terrorist attack and his real life personal situation, even though Rutledge and Goodwin constantly direct him to focus on finding the bomber. Stevens resolves to complete his mission, now with the added personal goal of saving Christina and the people on the train if at all possible.
He eventually discovers that the bomber is an American extremist named Derek Frost (Michael Arden). Stevens pursues Frost to a white van where the radioactive bomb is hidden. Stevens is eventually shot dead in the confrontation, but still able to gather enough information about Frost to inform Rutledge and Goodwin after he awakes from the source-code. Authorities are able to apprehend Frost and save Chicago before the second bomb is detonated.
With the mission accomplished, Rutledge orders Stevens' memory wiped/erased and stored for reuse in further missions. But Stevens persuades Goodwin to send him in one more time and give him one last chance to avert the train disaster. Goodwin agrees that he deserves to be allowed to die in peace afterwards instead of being held alive as a military artifact.
With the information he has uncovered from previous sorties, Stevens is able to defuse the bomb and capture Frost before he can destroy the train. Frost is arrested by the police and the people on the train are saved. Stevens and Christina kiss in the last seconds before the plug is to be pulled at the eight-minute mark. In that instant, Goodwin turns off his life support per his request, but to his surprise, his mind remains in Sean Fentress' body, being able to safely leave the train with Christina and the rest of the passengers. When I started watching the film, I found some similarities with other previous films, for example, Deja Vú (with Denzel Washington). An army project that is able to move in time to control and change important events and find the responsibles of those events. The plot was really simple but played by an amazing cast who made it worth to watch. I wouldn't say the film ends with a twisted scene or situation, but I didn't expect it.
I would rate this movie with a 3.5/5

Starring: Rebecca Spence, Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder
Directed by: Ron Howard
U.S. Rating: PG-13
The Dilemma was one of the first comedy films I planned to watch this year 2011. I was basically expecting the film since I watched the first trailer few months ago. The content showed on these trailers sold it completely. Even more, knowing that it was directed by Ron Howard.
The film is about the story of Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James), two best friends from college. They run a very sucessful business building green energy & electrical engines for cars. Their objective is to get a good deal with Chrysler and build electric engines for their sport cars. Ronny has evaded to "pop the question" to her girlfriend Beth (Jennifer Connelly), even though, she's been patiently waiting for that moment. Nick is married with Geneva (Winona Ryder).
Since Ronny is being pushed by Geneva and Nick to propose Beth, he finally decides to prepare the "perfect environment, place and moment" to ask her to marry him. He has decided to do it at the botanical garden. While he's planning the small details with the manager, he sees Geneva walking with another guy called Zip (Channing Tatum) and hiding among the trees and gardens. He finally sees what he didn't really want to see... His best friend's wife kissing another man.
Now, Ronny is facing a very difficult dilemma... Tell his dear friend that his wife is cheating on him with another man. While he's thinking of the best way to tell him, he also faces the difficult situation of affecting their all project due date and deal with Chrysler and not deliver the new engine, since the brain of all this engineering project is... Nick. He knows if he tells Nick, he'll put so much stress on him and will finally take his mind away from their project and plans.
Trying to "solve" the situation, Ronny tries to deal with this problem with Geneva and Zip, but it will turn into something even more confusing. He's also being affected, not attending his meetings and dead lines with Chrysler, and worst of all, creating some tense situations with his dear love Beth.
At the end, the truth flourishes. All these four people have to face their own dilemmas and solve their problems the best way they can, and most important, prevent these situations in the future.
Well, to be honest, I should start saying that the team and company in charged of the film marketing and promotion failed BIG time delivering the true gender of this film. Why do I say this? Since the very first time I watched the trailer several months ago, I was extremely excited because I genuinely thought it was going to be a black comedy drama, but it turned to be a cynical dramedy. It had some good insights into friendship. There was no chemistry between these two couples, especially between Ronny & Beth. Being such a HUGE fan of Jennifer Connelly, I'd expect it to see a good chemistry, but it just failed.
Sadly, it was a just a forgettable film that could have been such a great comedy (or even a great dramedy), having such a great cast. Huge fail for Universal Pictures for selling us the film as a funny comedy, but it was far from it, it was definitely a drama with a few laughable moments.
I would rate this movie with a 2/5
