Synopsis: Joel is one step away from selling his flavor extract factory and retiring to easy street when a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy.
Starring: Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck, J. K. Simmons
Directed by: Mike Judge
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Following his previous successful "work-environment" movie, Office Space, Mike Judge brings a new movie plot related with employees/employer conflicts with hilarious situations due to crazy and really bad decisions. With an easy and pretty basic script, supported by a great cast, Extract can offer you a really entertaining time. I personally enjoy Jason Bateman's work. Extract brings the story of Joel, a entrepreneur who built his flavor extract factory and after few years of ups and downs, he's just a step away to sell it to his competitors. The only problem? His employees cause a crazy random accident that might put in jeopardy the company's deal. Trying to deal with his messy personal & marital life, Joel is pushed to take some dumb decisions following his friend's advise. He'll face some hilarious situations while he finds the answers and solutions to all of his dilemmas and problems in life. Totally recommended for a really good movie night.
What did I like from this movie?
1. Even though it is not as good as Office Space, Mike Judge was able to offer a pretty funny and entertaining plot
2. The employee characters (the two old ladies, the guy that thinks he's the floor manager and suffers the accident, the mexican guy, etc) included in the script are hilarious!
3. J.K. Simmons's role (Brian) is hilarious! Giving names to all the employees and never remembers their real names
4. David Koechner;s role (Nathan) was also hilarious! He's such an annoying neighbor. The way he died, so funny!
5. What I like the most is that the movie trailer is funny enough to watch and motivate you without showing the hilarious situations and best parts of the film
6. The best scene? The moment when they're smoking pot with this bad guy and they decide to call the hot chick and they find out who she is and he gets punched in the eye for that!
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. I think the script had enough material to make it better, since it was pretty simple. Supported by such a great cast, they could put more effort on the script
I would rate this movie with a 4/5
