I like Kevin Bacon. I've watched several of his films and I believe he's done a pretty good job. His role in Death Sentence is not the exception. He played a really good role in this film, but there is a problem, the plot and direction didn't deliver what it takes to make the cast, and especially, Kevin shine as they should.
Death Sentence is a action film about Nick Hume, an executive with a normal life and happy family. His older son is a hockey player and is about to find a good opportunity to move to Canada and play professionally while he studies there. After a night game, Nick and his son stopped at a gas station on their way home. While Nick's son is paying for gas and getting a drink, a gang attacks the little shop at the gas station and one of their members needs to kill someone as part of his initiation ritual to be part of the gang. Nick's son is killed and he witnesses it. He had the chance to tackle the guy who killed his son while the rest of the gang escaped from the site.
When they go to trial to face the trial for the Nick's son assassination, Nick's lawyers give him low expectations of good results and try to convince him to accept the results (3 to 5 years in jail for the responsible). Nick doesn't agree and takes a decision that will change the game and future events in his life. Nick said he couldn't identify the guilty person as the responsible of his son's death, so he was finally released.
Nick decides to take justice in his own hands, due to the bureaucracy and flaws in the law, follows the responsible and stabs him to death. Detective Wallis informs him about the death of this person but she gets suspicious of him, as the responsible of the incident. The gang members discover that he was the responsible and things get really complicated for Nick. Soon, his wife and younger son are shot by the gang members and he was wounded and considered dead by the gang.
At this time, Nick recovers his sense and energies and he's able to evade the police protection at the hospital. He gets the chance to buy some guns and heads towards the place where all the gang members are located. You might know what happens next... he kills all the gang members and seriously injured he gets back to his home where he is finally found by the police and Detective Wallis tells him that his younger son is out of danger and he's getting better at the hospital, but he wouldn't be able to enjoy that.
A violent film with some really good action scenes that will provide a good entertainment time on a relaxing night.

Everybody's Fine brigs a message of the importance of family relationships through Frank Goode's story. Sony Pictures has released the movie trailer for Woody Harrelson's latest film, Defendor. Defendor is a foreign (Canadian) comedy drama to be released in DVD in few days, after being acquired and distributed by Sony Pictures. The trailer seems pretty funny and Woody Harrelson gives it a unique touch with his crazy weird personality!

Mel Gibson is back after being away from the big screen for more than 5 years and let me tell you, he's still the good actor we all have enjoyed all these years. He's obviously getting old, his wrinkles can't hide his age anymore, but his talent has been kept intact.
Edge of Darkness brings the story of Detective Thomas Craven, from Boston Police Department. His daughter Emma has decided to visit him and maybe come back home and stay with him. The night they arrive from the train station, Emma starts bleeding and throwing up and they urge to go to the doctor. Right at the moment when Craven and Emma stepped out of the house, an unknown man screams his last name and shots Emma with a shotgun, killing her. Being a detective, Craven takes advantage of his resources and knowledge and works on the case of his daughter's murder aside the formal investigation. He starts putting all the pieces together and with the help of some key people involved with Emma, he will discover that his daughter was working for a secure nuclear site, found some critical information and was trying to find the way to reveal this important information considered highly classified for national security reasons. She was treated as a terrorist and for this reason, was killed, among other people. Craven keeps working on the case until he finds the responsible of the plan, the one who killed his daughter and with the help of a secret agent, kills everyone else related with these murders and case.
Edge of Darkness is the kind of film I DO love and enjoy watching over and over again. The kind of thriller and suspense that will capture your attention and will keep you in your seat throughout all the film without losing the attention to all the details and mystery. As I read in one of the comments and good criticisms made of this film: It is so good that in a time when most of the films released (and to be released) are mainly focused on their great CGI, 3D, monsters and allien contents... we can sit, relax and enjoy what is, essentially, a good old, well act plot and story.
With no doubt, it is one of those films that I will recommend to anyone who loves a good thriller and suspense film. Being directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye, etc), we can't expect less than a good action film.

There was a time when I was a huge fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme films. Yes, I was! I kinda enjoyed also Dolph Lundgren when he played the Russian boxer in Rocky IV, among other good old action films. I even enjoyed the first Universal Soldier, I really did. Those good times and films are history. I can't believe I would watch these two actors playing again in a sequel of this film eighteen years later!
These two actors, especially Jean Claude, are part of those rare cases of actors or actresses that get worse instead of improving with time. Universal Soldier: Regeneration is a vivid prove of this observation. I remember the first time I wrote about the future release of this film. I said that if there was someone perfect for this film, it was Jean Claude Van-Damme, just because he was the lead role in Universal Soldier more than 15 years ago. All the following sequels and films related with this franchise have been awful, extremely bad. I wasn't expecting this new sequel to be different or better than the previous ones, that's why I'm not impressed that it was released directly on DVD and Blu-Ray.
I had the chance to (hardly) watch the film on DVD and I was impressed of how awful these two - once famous - actors played their roles. It was a boring plot with no chemistry or emotions, nothing new and just a couple of good punches or kicks. That was all.

I've watched the three X-Men films (plus X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and I must say that I am a huge fan of every single film of this successful franchise.
X-Men has brought some of the best and most enjoyable CGI effects to the big screen. I remember back in 2003 when X-Men 2 and Terminator 3 were released. I had so much expectations for both films, since one of my top favorite films of all times was Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I remember when I went to watch X-Men 2 and being in the theater... totally amazed watching the effects, plot and characters involved in this sequel. It was the first time ever that I left the theater without touching the candies and things I bought to eat while I was watching the film. I was so into the film that I didn't even remember I got some sweets to enjoy the film! I left the theater with such huge expectations for Terminator 3, since I knew it had to be terrific to be considered better than X-Men 2 that year, especially on the CGI effects aspect.
If I had to choose which one of these three X-Men films was the best, I'd say that the second one is the best so far. X-Men 3 delivered much more action and a large number of new mutants to the audience than the the two previous films, but the two previous films focused more on the lead characters and their stories.
I really enjoyed the action, the good sense of humor and especially, the amazing CGI effects and great mutant powers shown in this film. I just expect to have the chance to watch a new sequel of this great franchise any time soon. I know that two new films will be released soon (X-Men Origins: Magneto & Deadpool) but, I really want another sequel with all the team, especially knowing that X-Men 3 left some inconclusive details in its story.

Click is one of those movies that makes you laugh and have many thought-provoking moments, but you honestly don't know if it is a comedy film with some emotional drama scenes, or a drama film with some funny comedy scenes. For this particular film, I'd divide the film in two. The first half could be considered the funny comedy part, and the second half the drama emotional part.
Click is a film played by such an amazing cast. I should say that some of these talented people were wasted on this film, since they had just derisory roles, for example, Christopher Walken.
I wouldn't consider myself a loyal fan of Adam Sandler's films but, I must say that I've watched almost every single one of his films. He's improved through the years and the good thing is that he has tried to mix drama and romance to most of his latest roles and films. Click is nothing more than an enjoyable movie. The plot is not that great but it is entertaining, it delivers some really good laughs and some emotional moments, especially at the end of the film. I really enjoyed that mix.
No matter what, I'd say that if you're looking for an enjoyable film to watch and you coup with Adam Sandler's sense of humor, Click is one of those good options to watch.

Click is one of those movies that makes you laugh and have many thought-provoking moments, but you honestly don't know if it is a comedy film with some emotional drama scenes, or a drama film with some funny comedy scenes. For this particular film, I'd divide the film in two. The first half could be considered the funny comedy part, and the second half the drama emotional part.
Click is a film played by such an amazing cast. I should say that some of these talented people were wasted on this film, since they had just derisory roles, for example, Christopher Walken.
I wouldn't consider myself a loyal fan of Adam Sandler's films but, I must say that I've watched almost every single one of his films. He's improved through the years and the good thing is that he has tried to mix drama and romance to most of his latest roles and films. Nick leaves for a week with his mom and Jerry to stay in a cabin. There, he meets Sheeni, a sweet girl who is deeply in loved with France and everything related with its culture. It is love at first sight for Nick, but not for Sheeni. He had to work hard and be a "bad" boy to show her how much he loved her. In that internal fight for being a bolder and more impulsive person, Nick decides to create a supplementary persona named Francois. Francois leads him to get involved in some bizarre and bold situations that will help him to show her what he is capable to do just to get her attention and love, even if his actions put him to jail. He'll face a series of crazy events and meet some weird people that will make the film enjoyable and entertaining.
Personally,I'd consider Youth in Revolt a romantic and dark teen comedy that delivered a few really good and pleasant laughs. If I had to express my thoughts about this film, I'd say that it is a pretty simple, empty and lazy plot, with an amazing cast and a Michael Cera that has finally moved timidly from his comfort zone and has accepted his first role as a bad guy, breaking the image of the nice guy from movies like Superbad or Juno. The plot didn't sell it, but I believe that putting everything together made the difference. I only had a few good laughs, but really good ones. There was something that kept me interested and entertained through the whole film, I don't know what it was, but it definitely made the difference!
