Movie Review: The Transporter

Thursday, November 5, 2009
Synopsis: Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods--human or otherwise--from one place to another. No questions asked. Carrying out mysterious and sometimes dangerous tasks in his tricked-out BMW, Frank adheres to a strict set of rules, which he never breaks. Rule One: Never change the deal. Rule Two: No names--Frank doesn't want to know whom he's working for, or what he's transporting. Rule Three: never look in the package. Frank's newest transport seems no different from the countless ones he's done in the past. He's been hired by an American known only as "Wall Street" (see Rule Two) to make a delivery; but when Frank stops along the route, he notices his package is moving. Violating Rule Three, Frank looks inside the bag, finding its contents to be a beautiful, gagged woman. Frank's steadfast adherence to his other two rules--which make up his basic code of survival--also quickly fails, hurtling him and his new companion on a road leading to shocking secrets, deadly complications, and the last thing that Frank ever expected to come to believe: that rules are made to be broken.

Starring: Jason Statham, Matt Schulze, Francois Berleand, Ric Young (II), Doug Rand
Directed by: Corey Yuen
U.S. Rating: PG-13

The first film of this franchise is the one that I like the most. Jason Statham plays Frank Martin, an ex-special force who has become an expert in his field: Transportation. He delivers "special" packages to all his important clients following three simple rules - Rule One: Never change the deal, Rule Two: No names and Rule Three: Never look in the Package. These rules are made to never be broken, but in his latest delivery, he made a mistake: He broke rule three. A series of events will lead him to save not just an Asian girl, his family and some other people, but destroy a secret organization working on the illegal traffic of Asian people.

What did I like from this movie?

1. The BMW he drives, what a beauty!
2. The best scene: When he gets back to the house after the car explosion, he knocks the door and runs against it when the guy sees through the magic eye. Hilarious!
3. Good fighting scenes. Especially, the one at the house and the one at the garage

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. The romance encounter at Frank's house after the explosion, so fake.
2. The plot gets really boring for about 20-30 minutes after Frank gets back to his house with the Asian girl

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

  1. Clint Moore Says:
  2. Yes, who could ever dislike that BMW? I mean that car is a work of an art... Well enough with the exaggeration. But I have to agree that this movie has good fight scenes.
