Saturday, November 28, 2009
Synopsis: A Greek tour guide named Georgia attempts to recapture her kefi (Greek for “mojo”) by guiding a ragtag group of tourists around Greece and showing them the beauty of her native land. Along the way, she manages to open their eyes to the wonders of an exotic foreign land while beginning to see the world through a new set of eyes in the process.

Starring: Nia Vardalos, Richard Dreyfuss, Harland Williams, Rachel Dratch, Caroline Goodall
Directed by: Donald Petrie
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Nia Vardalos, the writer and star of one of the sweetest movies I've watched so far, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, is back with a new "Greek" romantic comedy. Nia plays the role of a tour guide who deeply loves all the ancient history involved in Greece cuture and architecture but has no luck in sharing this knowledge and passion to her tourist group. Besides this lack of passion from his group, she seems to be placed in second place, getting the worst bus, bus driver and hotels. On her latest tour trip, she decides to quit her job and make this trip her last tour. She never expects the experience she lives with her group, the influence she can make in other people's lives and how they can affect in hers. She also finds the love of her life and all this experience makes her to move forward and keep working on this tour company. A really entertaining romantic comedy, definitely not as funny and sweet as My Big Fat Greek Weeding, but entertaining though.

What did I like from this movie?

1. The tourist stereotypes, so true! Really funny
2. The competition between Nia and the other tour guide. Really funny the simple technique used by the other tour guide: Souvenirs?
3. The moment when she's leaving the hotel and drops the letter at the hotel reception. So funny how the receptionist hits on her

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. The cast could be much better. Having some good people involved, like Richard Dreyfuss, it could be much better. It wasn't as funny and good as it should be

I would rate this movie with a 3/5
