Movie Review: Surrogates

Saturday, September 26, 2009
Synopsis: People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates -- sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It's an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

Starring: Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Boris Kodjoe, James Francis Ginty
Directed by: Jonathan Mostow
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Quite an interesting plot. Surrogates brought to the big screen an excellent cast with great performance by Bruce Willis... as usual, Radha Mitchell and Rosamund Pike (lover her... such a classic beauty!), amazing effects and make-ups. The plot offers a great story with a balance between some action scenes, sci-fi content and some critics to the system, technology and humans. Bruce Willis plays the role of a FBI agent who tries to solve a case related with the death of few humans after their robots died in similar incidents. While Willis uses his own robot with such a really crazy toupee up to the moment when is destroyed by other humans, he tries to bring back the real experiences humans can feel and live with their own bodies, for example, pain and love. An interesting view of the creation, promotion, sales, use and destruction of this life style, using robots to live your life without any risks in life.

As Gamer, Surrogates brings to the big screen some new life concepts related with virtual, technology & robotics that we might see them as some good Sci-Fi, but what if some of these things are not too far away to happen in our real lives?

What did I like from this movie?

1. The make-up was perfect! Maybe with some digital assistance, but every single one of them looked amazingly young with their perfect skin robotic make-up
2. The plot was kind of interesting, really enjoyed the different point of view about humans/robotics offered in this plot
3. totally laughed when Bruce Willis went to VSI and talked with the two lawyers. Really funny when he said to one of them that he didn't really know who she was... she could be a fat old guy with his ding-dong hanging out
4. The robots shown in some scenes were amazing, how realy they looked
5. Really enjoyed the final of the movie, some of the things weren't expected

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Bruce Willis Toupee... hehehe

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

  1. Good movie babe. Interesting. I'd totally pick a thinner better looking Surrogate for myself. I'd totally have it go to work for me.
