Movie Review: Rush Hour 2

Tuesday, September 1, 2009
Synopsis: Chief Inspector Lee of the Hong Kong Police and LAPD detective James Carter go to Hong Kong on a much needed vacation. Carter is looking forward to discovering the city for the first time. But when they arrive, they discover a bomb has exploded in the American Embassy, killing two U.S. customs agents who had been investigating a counterfeiting ring. The Hong Kong police suspect that Triad crime lord Ricky Tan is behind the blast. Inspector Lee is assigned to crack the case, much to the chagrin of Carter who is annoyed as he feels his vacation slipping away. But for Lee the case is personal -- Tan was once his father's police partner and played a direct role in his death. The two cops set off in pursuit of Tan, but this time around it is Detective Carter who is a fish out of water and Lee now has the chance to teach him some lessons. But of course, as the pair chase Tan from Hong Kong to Los Angeles and beyond, Carter has a few things to teach the locals as well.

One of my top favorite movies of ALL times! I believe I forgot the number of times I've watched this movie, and never get tired of it! I remember that a week before this movie came to the movie theaters in the U.S., I went to Las Vegas for few days. I had such a great time and so much fun there, taking lots of pictures and videos of all the attractions and hotels. I remember the moment when I stopped at the Desert Inn (aka “Red Dragon Casino” in this movie) and I saw that it had some kind of fire explosion at the top floor, it was all covered in black smoke an the hotel remained closed. I didn't know what happened there and didn't want to take pictures of it. It would have been such a really cool thing to remember. Anyway, I know that many people don't like Jackie Chan's movies just because of the whole martial arts and fight scenes. In this sequel, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan make the perfect match. Such an excellent plot with an excellent cast. Going from Hong Kong, to Los Angeles and ending in Las Vegas, this movie brings all kind of crazy and hilarious situations mixed with lots of action and fighting scenes. 100% recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. The complete scene when Chris Tucker is lost in Hong Kong trying to find the Massage Palace and had to buy a chicken alive because the lady wanted to kill it in front of him
2. The moment when he takes a cab and follows the members of the mafia, but he tries to talk with the taxi driver, thinking that he doesn't understand him... "I'm gonna slap you!"... hilarious!
3. The scene when they're tied to the truck via Las Vegas and Jackie Chan is trying to take the tied robs out of his hands, really funny too
4. The whole situation at the karaoke bar, when this Chinese guy is singing a classic of MJ and Chris Tucker takes the stage and mic to sing that song
5. The bloopers at the end of the movie... hilarious!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. What I didn't like was that we had to wait almost 6 years for a new sequel!

I would rate this movie with a 5/5
