Movie Review: Transporter 2

Monday, August 10, 2009
Synopsis: Frank Martin is the best in the business. The ex-Special Forces operative hires himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods--human or otherwise. Very simple, he delivers, no questions asked. Frank has relocated from the French Mediterranean to Miami, Florida, where as a favor to a friend, Frank is driving for the wealthy Billings family. There's very little that can surprise The Transporter, but young Jack Billings has done just that; Frank has unexpectedly bonded with Jack, age 6, who he drives to and from school. But when Jack is kidnapped, Frank must use his battle-tested combat skills to retrieve the boy and thwart the kidnappers' master plan to release a virus that will kill anyone with whom it comes in contact.

Starring: Jason Statham, Amber Valletta, Kate Nauta, Matthew Modine, Jason Flemyng
Directed by: Louis Leterrier
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Frank Martin, the transporter with three simple rules: His clients must give him exact dimensions and weight of the transport, never provide any names, and he will promise never to look inside the package. In this sequel, Frank is back in action, this time in Miami, Florida, providing his professional driving services for the wealthy Billings family. His main job is to drive their son Jack, age 6, who is kidnapped. The battle to recover "the package" (the kid) provides the perfect action scenes for fast cars, martial arts and some, persecutions and explosions.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Definitely the cars is one of the best distinctive details in all the Transporter. movies This time, the Audi A8 and a Lamborghini are the cars driven by Frank.
2. The martial arts and fight scenes are really entertaining, another distinctive detail in all the Transporter movies.
3. The bad girl with the two semiautomatic guns, really entertaining.
4. I believe this sequel offered a better plot, since the first part got really boring after the second half of the movie. This one, even though is a pretty standard action movie, offered a more balanced and mixed plot (action/thriller/few drama).

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. I really dislike the exaggerated scenes like the moment when he drives the Audi through the Bahia and jumps and turns the car in the air and releases the bomb placed behind the car with a crane.
2. The moment when he jumps with the Audi from one building to another one and stops right next to the border.
3. The moment when he's folling one of the bad guys and jumps with a jet sky from the water to the road and drives with it for a long distance.

I would rate this movie with a 3/5
