Synopsis: Brüno is a gay fashionista, host of the top-rated late night fashion show Funkyzeit Mit Brüno in Austria. Brüno wants to become in the biggest Austrian celebrity since Hitler. For that reason, he's decided to crisscross the globe and get to Los Angeles in the hopes of finding fame and love.

Starring: Sacha Baron Cohen, Gustaf Hammarsten, Josh Meyers, Robert Huerta, Gilbert Rosales
Directed by: Larry Charles
U.S. Rating: R

It's interesting that even though this film had to be toned down in Britain due to the sexual and vulgar content, Brüno could be considered one of the most disturbing and vulgar movies that I've watched so far. Nevertheless, I definitely consider this movie one of the funniest movies I've watched in a long time!.

What I really like about this movie is how the plot goes through some social situations that might still be considered as a taboo in our societies. I really enjoy how Sasha Baron Cohen adapts himself to all his different characters played on his movies. I did laugh watching all these different events and situations where he actually gets involved with real people in real situations and spontaneous reactions, compiling such great material to expose one of the funniest and most controversial movies in 2009.

What did I like from this movie?

1. His appearance at the live talk show in Texas, introducing his black adopted baby OJ.
2. When he's being advised by a gay converter and Brüno tried to be enrolled in the Army to become a straight guy. The funniest moment in this scene: When he salutes his superior the Nazi way (with his arm and hand straight forward).
3. When he decides to visit Israel and Palestine. Actually, there are two extremely funny moments during this visit. The first one, when he's walking dressed as a catholic priest on a street in Jerusalem and some Jews try to beat him. The second one, when he interviews a leader from an extremist group in Palestine, hoping that he could kidnap him and make him famous.
4. His interview with Harrison Ford, an interview that did last only 2 seconds!

What did I dislike from this movie?

I noticed they tried to include so, but so much material in such a short period of time. I felt we could enjoy more from the situations exposed on this movie, like the interviews, etc., if they added more material about these situations.

Way too much nudity. The scene where he visits the swingers party and the scene when he promotes his new show and interview with Harrison Ford was like... too much! but it was really funny though.

The fight scene at the end of the movie. I really enjoyed the people's reaction, but honestly, too crude and vulgar the scene between Brüno and his assistant.

I would rate this movie with a 3/5
