Cirkus Columbia
Synopsis: After the fall of the communist regime in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1991, Divko Buntic returns to his former home after a 20-year exile in Germany. Returning with an attractive young girlfriend, a flashy new Mercedes, a pocketful of cash, and a lucky black cat, things are looking good for Divko. When his cat goes missing things begin to fall apart: trouble with his girlfriend and the fledgling relation with his estranged son are strained as the entire town scrambles to find the cat and collect the cash reward being offered. Divko's personal tumult finds an unsettling mirror in the country at large with signs appearing that the Bosnian War is coming. As the war looms, tensions run high and Divko must decide whether to stay in his newly reestablished home or leave.

The Secret World of Arrietty
Synopsis: Residing quietly beneath the floorboards are little people who live undetected in a secret world to be discovered, where the smallest may stand tallest of all. Arrietty, a tiny, but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper. Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ett-ee) remains hidden from view, except during occasional covert ventures beyond the floorboards to "borrow" scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human hosts. But when 12-year-old Shawn, a human boy who comes to stay in the home, discovers his mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms. If discovered, their relationship could drive Arrietty's family from the home and straight into danger.

On the Ice
Synopsis: Two teenage boys who have grown up like brothers go about their lives in the comfortable claustrophobia of an isolated Alaskan town. Bonded by their dark secret, the two best friends are forced to create one fabrication after another in order to survive. Synopsis: Set in the inner-city of Memphis, Undefeated chronicles the Manassas Tigers' 2009 football season, on and off-the-field, as they strive to win the first playoff game in the high school's 110-year history. Focusing more on winning young men than football games, the football program nevertheless began resurrecting itself, and in 2009, features the most talented team Manassas has ever fielded; a team that seems poised to end the playoff jinx that has plagued the school since time immemorial. A coming-of-age documentary film, Undefeated provides audiences an intimate view of an underprivileged group of teens and their inspirational coach, as they attempt to make history.

Position Among the Stars
Synopsis: A portrait of the Christian-Islamic Sjamsuddin family in Indonesia, featuring the various family members, including resolute grandmother Rumidjah, her son Bakti and her granddaughter Tari. The everyday ups and downs of the Sjamsuddin family provide a portrait of modern Indonesia, with all its contrasts between urban and rural, wealth and poverty, and religion and globalization. In this land where religious leaders preach the adoption of Sharia, Rumidjah and Bakti hope that Tari will be the first in the family to study, while Tari herself displays all the familiar characteristics of a rebellious teenager: her primary interests are shopping and boys.
