I'm not into these Sci-Fi kind of films, but after watching films like Cloverfield and District 9, I thought I'd give Monsters a try.

I must say that it was such an amazing project, being produced with just a short budget (less than $500.000) and shot in just 3 weeks. Director Gareth Edwards and his crew did such an amazing job with this film. I must express my admiration for their amazing work. It is interesting to read about the project and how it was completed (places, people involved, budget, time, etc). This is the positive side of this review.

The negative side is that I wasn't convinced or entertained  the way I'd expect. Thinking on previous films like Cloverfield, War of the Worlds, District 9, etc., I was expecting a film packed with some great CGI effects and action scenes. I must say it had some petty good visual effects, but the big effort was based on the emotional side of the plot, a romantic drama in a desolated environment controlled by monsters.

I've read a long list of reviews and comments about this film, and it seems that I'm the only one who didn't get it or like it! Most of the reviews and comments express their best concept and opinions about the film. I didn't like it or at least, didn't get its concept or main idea. My personal impression is that the plot was extremely slow and boring.

I might have to watch the film once again from a different perspective and try to get what other people got from this film.

I would rate this movie with a 2/5
