Movie Review: The Tourist

Friday, December 17, 2010
Synopsis: During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, Frank unexpectedly finds himself in a flirtatious encounter with Elise , an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Paris and Venice, their whirlwind romance quickly evolves as they find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff, Rufus Sewell
Directed by: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck
U.S. Rating: PG-13

Filmed in such an amazing scenery, The Tourist brings a basic, simple, kind of predictable, but very entertaining plot (well, I wouldn't say the plot, but the cast involved in this film). The Tourist brings the crazy mix and chemistry of Jhonny Deep's weirdness and fun, spontaneous sense of humor and Angelina's high class, pride and beauty to the big screen.

Like my wife said, it was pretty interesting and exciting to watch Jhonny Deep without a wig and make-up in a film. It's been a while since we saw him playing a "normal" role, without being the freak or weirdo.

I must say The Tourist offers such an amazing scenery, based in two of my favorite cities in Europe, Paris and Venice. I'd say the plot is a romantic thriller with a fun witty touch.

I'd consider The Tourist a watchable yet forgettable entertaining film.

Note: It seems that it is so forgettable that I didn't have to much to say about it, since my review was extremely short :)

I would rate this movie with a 3/5
