Movie Review: Angels & Demons

Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Synopsis: When Robert Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati -- the most powerful underground organization in history -- he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.

Starring: Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer, Stellan Skarsgard, Pierfrancesco Favino, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and
Armin Mueller-Stahl
Directed by: Ron Howard
U.S. Rating: PG-13

I should start saying that I didn't read the book, just watched the movie. For many critics, Director Ron Howard left out much content from the book that gave more sense to the plot. No matter what, Angels and Demons is such an amazing entertaining film. Offering so much more action and suspense than its predecessor, Angels and Demons brings a joyable plot, amazing locations, monuments and historic places in Rome and the Vatican, and such a great performance by the lead roles played by Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. I personally believe that its predecessor, The DaVinci Code, offers more suspense, drama, thriller and action, but Angels and Demons focused on the entertaining action and suspense. Totally recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. The roles were actually really entertaining and greatly played
2. The places, monuments and locations were impressive
3. Even though, Ron Howard didn't take some detailed situations that would give more meaning to the plot, it was still really entertaining
4. The image quality (in theaters and Blu-Ray) are simply amazing

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Nothing

I would rate this movie with a 4/5
