Synopsis: Four Midwestern couples embark on a journey to a tropical island resort. While one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the other three set out to jet ski, spa and enjoy some fun in the sun. They soon discover that participation in the resort's couples therapy is not optional. Suddenly, their group-rate vacation comes at a price. What follows is a hilarious look at real world problems faced by all couples.
Starring: Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Faizon Love, Kristin Davis
Directed by: Peter Billingsley
U.S. Rating: PG-13
Filmed in one of the most amazing hotels in the world, The Bora Bora Hotel in Tahiti, Couples Retreat brings a funny plot played by a great cast. Couples Retreat is the story of four friends and their wives who decide to enroll in a whole week adventure plan to save their marriages, attending on a couples retreat program in Eden Resort. Eden Resort is divided in two sections: Eden East, the section with all the fun and party time, the section for single people and Eden West, the section for couples, the section with no fun, where couples are meant to solve their marital issues and be happy together. Looking for some fun stuff, soon these four couples will find that there's no such fun in Eden West, and all the activities are meant to explore and solve their marital differences and communication problems, leading to some problems and situations on these couple relationships. Facing some really bizarre and weird situations with the owner of Eden Resort, Marcel, they will have to overcome their differences and complete the program, if they want to understand each other and save their marriages. The only way to do this? Breaking the most important rule... going to the Eden East to get Trudy back, Shane's young girlfriend who escaped to this side of the Resort looking for some fun. A plot that offers some really funny scenes and content, some thoughtful moments and some annoying situations. No matter the critics and reviews you read about this movie, I totally recommend you to watch it.
What did I like from this movie?
1. The scenery is simply amazing!
2. Great cast, no matter what
3. I laughed with Marcel and his weird, twisted life style and methods to help couples to find their inner self and solve their differences
4. The scenes and situation with Salvador, the yoga instructor. The best of this movie! So hilarious!
5. The end of the retreat, when Marcel is giving the animal to each couple and gives Vince Vaughn an Ass, saying "You must be an Ass... Be an Ass with your family..."
6. The abandoned Starbucks!
What did I dislike from this movie?
1. There were few minutes in the middle of the movie that turned a bit annoying, during the therapies
I would rate this movie with a 4/5
