Synopsis: Michael Jackson takes a final bow in this theatrical concert film featuring rehearsal footage of the late megastar as he practiced for the 100 shows in London that never came to be. HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL's Kenny Ortega handles direction duties as well as choreography chores for the HD-shot film.

Starring: Michael Jackson
Directed by: Kenny Ortega
U.S. Rating: PG

As a big Michael Jackson's fan who would have loved to be in one of his concerts in London last summer, I must admit that this musical-documentary shows the rehearsals of what would have been such an amazing show in musical history. I must admit that I never agreed with all the weird things surrounding his personal life and the way he lived it, but no one, absolutely no one can say that he won't be the king of pop forever.

The best thing about this musical-documentary is that it looks it never was intended to be filmed for public viewing, and it makes it even more spontaneous and original, showing all those little details that made him the best in the pop music world.

On this documentary, MJ goes through some of his best and most memorable songs, giving us a glimpse of what would have been a series of concerts that would show why he was the king. Totally recommended if... you're an MJ fan :)

What did I like from this movie?

1. The songs selection for this documentary was the best
2. All the video material and effects that was prepared for the concerts, especially the material for The Earth Song and Thriller... simply amazing!
3. The band was absolutely impressive, especially the girl and guy playing the guitars

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. I would have add more song, music to the documentary, but it was more than ok

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

Movie Review: Bad Santa

Friday, January 15, 2010 0 comments

Synopsis: Willie T. Stokes is a washed-up, wise-cracking Department Store Santa who can't help but be more naughty than nice. Underneath his ill-fitting red suit, Willie is actually a safecracker who makes one big score every year--on Christmas Eve. As shoppers head home from the mall, this Santa and his ingenious Elf--Willie's midget partner-in-crime Marcus--crack the store safe and make off with their own holiday stash. But then comes Phoenix. Here Santa and his Elf find their annual heist endangered by a pesky store manager, a savvy mall detective, a sexy Santa fan and an innocent but beleaguered 8-year-old misfit who decides to believe that Willie--as intoxicated, acid-tongued and felonious as he seems to be--is the real Santa he's been seeking.

Starring: Billy Bob Thornton, Bernie Mac, John Ritter, Lauren Tom, Lauren Graham, Brett Kelly
Directed by: Terry Zwigoff
U.S. Rating: R

I know Christmas is over, but I couldn't let this movie off my daily reviews. I have just a very few list of favorite Christmas movies, and to be honest, this one is at the top of my list. Bad Santa is one of the darkest comedy movies I've ever watched and I loved it! Bad Santa is not that kind of Christmas movies that you'd love to watch to get in the mood and feel the Christmas spirit... far from that! It is as crude, offensive, nasty and profane as it can be! Billy Bob Thornton plays the lead role as the helpless drunk Santa who works in big department stores with his midget partner as part of their alibi to steal the money kept in the stores' safe. While working on one of these stores, Bad Santa (Billy Bob) meets "The Kid" (Brett Kelly), one of the sweetest fat kids ever, who believes in Santa and wants to be his friend. The kid gets involved in Santa's personal messy life and Santa becomes his protector and best friend.

Definitely one of my top favorite comedy movies! It is one of my "must watch" every single Christmas season. I laughed out loud all movie (literally!). Totally recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. Billy Bob Thornton's role was fabulous!
2. Such an amazingly funny dark comedy
3. The fat kid plays such a great role also, he's able to break the heart of the viewers!

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Absolutely nothing! (Well... the trailer doesn't show how funny this film is! This is one of those few cases when the trailer can't sell the film)

I would rate this movie with a 4/5

20th Century Fox has finally released the movie trailer for the upcoming film, The A-Team. Starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, Jessica Biel and Sharlto Copley. Following other movies from old TV Series, this new film about the famous TV Serie The A-Team promises to bring an entertaining plot to the big screen. It is one of my top favorite movies for 2010. I have great expectations but, to be honest... after watching the scene of the tank falling from the plane and Bradley Cooper shots the plane down (Charlie's Angels style) made me think twice about how realistic it will be.

Synopsis: A group of ex-military commandos who escape from a military prison and roam America, handling covert operations for money.

Movie Review: Armored

Synopsis: A crew of armored truck guards execute a meticulously planned robbery of their own security firm, but when their seemingly foolproof plan unravels, the men turn against each other as they desperately try to save themselves.

Starring: Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, Amaury Nolasco, Fred Ward
Directed by: Nimrod Antal
U.S. Rating: PG-13

I could say that Armored is one of those movies that you won't remember the morning after you watched it, but I do believe that it will definitely entertain you while you watch it, no doubt about it. With such an amazing cast, this intriguing plot is played by some of the most talented actors in Hollywood. They do what they do best, and they deliver the unique suspense and action that we expect to see in this film. Based on a group of officers working for an armored transport security firm, they plan the fool-proof ultimate heist against their own company, while they deliver 42 millions from a financial entity. Everything went well until they include an honest officer that is forced to accept be part of the plan due to all of his financial and personal problems, but when a serie of unexpected events start playing against their plan, this honest officer will turn against his partners and will stop them, doing whatever it takes to save the life of a police officer, his younger brother and his own life. A really entertaining action film, totally recommended for a quiet and relaxing afternoon at home.

What did I like from this movie?

1. Such a great cast selected for this film
2. It is a pretty simple plot, but really entertaining

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Murphy's Laws were 101% applied in this script, they faced every possible wrong situation

I would rate this movie with a 3/5

Gox Searchlight has released the movie trailer for the new film Our Family Wedding, starring Forest Whitaker, America Ferrera, Carlos Mencia, Regina King, and Lance Gross. A family comedy that seems to bring some good laughs to the big screen. I'm a huge fan of Forest Whitaker and honestly, it is weird to see him in a comedy film, after being so used to his action-suspense-drama films.

Synopsis: In this clash-of-cultures comedy, two overbearing dads must put aside their differences to plan the wedding of their son and daughter in less than two weeks.

Movie Review: Angels & Demons

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 0 comments

Synopsis: When Robert Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati -- the most powerful underground organization in history -- he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.

Starring: Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer, Stellan Skarsgard, Pierfrancesco Favino, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and
Armin Mueller-Stahl
Directed by: Ron Howard
U.S. Rating: PG-13

I should start saying that I didn't read the book, just watched the movie. For many critics, Director Ron Howard left out much content from the book that gave more sense to the plot. No matter what, Angels and Demons is such an amazing entertaining film. Offering so much more action and suspense than its predecessor, Angels and Demons brings a joyable plot, amazing locations, monuments and historic places in Rome and the Vatican, and such a great performance by the lead roles played by Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. I personally believe that its predecessor, The DaVinci Code, offers more suspense, drama, thriller and action, but Angels and Demons focused on the entertaining action and suspense. Totally recommended!

What did I like from this movie?

1. The roles were actually really entertaining and greatly played
2. The places, monuments and locations were impressive
3. Even though, Ron Howard didn't take some detailed situations that would give more meaning to the plot, it was still really entertaining
4. The image quality (in theaters and Blu-Ray) are simply amazing

What did I dislike from this movie?

1. Nothing

I would rate this movie with a 4/5
